How is Robben now?

At the age of 41, Arjen Robben - a former player who played for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea - made a remarkable debut as a professional padel player.

Robben still maintains his sports habit even after retiring.

His passion for the sport that was booming in Europe took him to the CUPRA FIP Tour, where Robben and teammate Werner Lootsma won a dramatic qualifying round for the FIP Bronze Westerbork.

With the mettle of a former star on the pitch, Robben and Lootsma saved six match points before coming back to win 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 against Ralph Boekema and Mark Weldmate. However, his dream soon ended in the round of 32, when he failed to create a surprise against the pair in the world's top 200 - Sten Richters and Thijs Roper - with a quick defeat 1-6, 0-6.

Nevertheless, Robben is still praised by his opponents and the International Padel Federation (FIP) as the best former footballer playing padel today. For him, this is not a journey to chase the new glory but simply to enjoy: "I don't think I can pursue padel too seriously. I started with low expectations, just trying to fight and score as many points as possible."

In football, Robben is famous for his magical left foot, but his career has also been haunted by injuries. In just two seasons with Real Madrid (2007–2009), he suffered 9 injuries, scored 13 goals and 14 assists in 65 matches, earning the nickname "the crystal star". Today, on the padel field, that image evokes a feeling of both fragility and brilliance - a Robben still burning with the ball, even on a different pitch.
