According to RT, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said that Germany could develop its own nuclear weapons within a few months if it decided to do so.
"Germany already possesses the necessary nuclear material, know-how and technology," the IAEA Director General said in an interview with Polish news agency Reczpospolita published on July 9.

Mr Grossi said Germany could build a nuclear bomb "in just a few months", but stressed that these were purely theoretical assumptions and that European countries continued to affirm their commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
"European countries have determined that a world in which nuclear weapons are easily accessible would be 'catastrophic'," Mr Grossi declared.
The IAEA Director General also stressed the need for international dialogue on nuclear security and the importance of maintaining non-proliferation commitments.
The statement comes after recent US and Israeli air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which were carried out under the pretext of preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons – something both the IAEA and US intelligence have denied.
Following the US and Israeli airstrikes, Iran suspended cooperation with the IAEA and expelled inspectors. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized the agency for failing to condemn the attacks, describing its silence as “unacceptable” and accusing it of bias.
Grossi's remarks come as NATO members in Europe are moving more militarized and senior German officials say US nuclear weapons based in Germany are no longer enough to deter the threat from Russia, calling on Berlin to access the nuclear arsenals of Britain or France or join a broader European deterrent force.
Meanwhile, Moscow has repeatedly denied that it poses any threat to NATO member countries in Europe.
