1.90 m tall 'hot boy' becomes captain of Vietnam men's volleyball team

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team has a new captain before entering the 2025 AVC Nations Cup Asian Volleyball Tournament in Bahrain.

On June 18, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team under the leadership of coach Tran Dinh Tien played the opening match in Group D of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup Asian Volleyball Tournament, against New Zealand.

Before the tournament, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team suffered a loss of strength when opposing setter Pham Van Hiep was injured and could not go to Bahrain, so the whole team voted for Quan Trong Nghia as the new captain.

Main striker Quan Trong Nghia was born in 1997, has an impressive height of 1.90 m, and has played for the Vietnam national team for many years. In the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, Quan Trong Nghia was loaned by the Mobile Police Command to the Ho Chi Minh City Police team and he has shown stable performance. Quan Trong Nghia also has impressive technical parameters with the ability to jump 3.45 m high, block 3.15 m high, play flexibly and have diverse attacking abilities.

At the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is in Group D with New Zealand and South Korea. The tournament has 11 teams, divided into 4 groups competing in a round-robin to select the first and second place teams in each group to advance to the quarterfinals. With the current squad, Quan Trong Nghia and the Vietnamese men's volleyball team aim to train and improve in order to have the best squad for the 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand this December.

According to the schedule of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup Asian Volleyball Tournament, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will play their opening match against New Zealand at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow (June 18) and the final group stage match against Korea at 8:20 p.m. on June 19.
