Talks to promote cooperation in developing border sports and tourism

- On the morning of June 6, at milestone 1090 - 1091 of Tan Thanh (Van Lang district, Lang Son, Vietnam) - Po Chai (Bang Tuong town, Guangxi, China) customs clearance, a working delegation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC) of Lang Son province led by Mr. Luu Ba Mac, Deputy Director of the DTC, worked with a working delegation of the People's Government of Bang Tuong town, Guangxi, China led by Mr. Vu Hieu Huy, Secretary of the City Party Committee, on a number of issues related to promoting cooperation in developing sports and border tourism between the two sides. Participating in the program were representatives of a number of relevant departments and branches of the province.

During the working program, delegates from both sides exchanged and discussed a number of contents related to allowing Chinese and Vietnamese tourists to use specialized border travel passes to enter and exit through the Po Chai - Tan Thanh checkpoint; promoting the implementation of the agreement on the orientation of the China (Pingxiang) - Vietnam (Van Lang) cross-border tourism cooperation zone signed by the two sides on February 22, 2025; organizing a cross-border half-marathon; organizing the China - Vietnam Border Tourism Festival in Pingxiang, Guangxi from July 24 to 26, 2025, in which the following activities will take place: the opening ceremony, China - Vietnam trade fair, people-to-people exchanges, China - Vietnam football matches, etc.

Through the discussion, the two sides agreed on a number of contents such as: cooperation in organizing a half-marathon (21km) across the border and promoting communication; continuing to organize sports exchanges in cycling, soccer, volleyball, and chess according to the traditions between the two countries, and at the same time studying the organization of some new sports; in the field of tourism, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation in promoting and advertising the tourism market, and building a variety of tours and tourist routes in the coming time.

The leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son also made some proposals such as: Increasing the customs clearance time at the Chinese border gate to facilitate people and tourists on both sides; organizing a thematic discussion on promoting self-driving tourism activities across the Vietnam - China border to remove existing obstacles and difficulties. Regarding the remaining contents, the two sides will continue to study and discuss further in writing.

After the working program, the two sides will coordinate with relevant agencies and units to advise and propose competent authorities to effectively implement the above contents in the coming time.

The talks are one of the activities to concretize the agreements and cooperation documents between the leaders of Lang Son province and the leaders of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in many fields, including promoting culture, sports and tourism across the border.
