It is worth mentioning that the weather that morning was very cold, less than 20 degrees. While the children sat shivering in the middle of the yard, the teachers still wore warm clothes and scarves.

“The school only cares about appearance and image, not the health of the students. In this cold weather, the school makes the students take off all their warm clothes. What should we do if the students catch a cold?”, one parent was upset.

Speaking with Tien Phong, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lich, Head of the Departmentof Education and Training (DET) of Lien Chieu district confirmed the incident occurred at Bui Thi Xuan Primary School.

He said that during the flag-raising ceremony on the morning of December 16, the school integrated the sea and island education program for students in grades 4 and 5, and was attended by many parents and representatives of other authorities. The weather that morning was quite cold, but the students only wore uniforms and did not bring warm clothes.

“The Department has received many complaints and concerns from parents about this issue and is currently asking the school to report the incident in detail. At the same time, the Department of Education and Training also recommends that schools take corrective measures, limit outdoor activities in cold and rainy weather, pay attention to the weather, and keep students warm,” said Mr. Lich.
