Study Information Technology or Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering?

VnExpressVnExpress26/08/2023

Studying Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering is more difficult than Information Technology, but I get to learn both hardware and software, just as I wanted.

I love two majors: Information Technology and Telecommunication Engineering. According to my research, Information Technology specializes in software and Telecommunication Engineering is more about hardware and has a little bit of programming and software.

I was advised by some people that the current Information Technology industry is no longer lacking in human resources like 2-3 years ago but has a lot of surplus because there are many schools training in this field. Many new graduates majoring in Information Technology find it very difficult to find jobs at the Intern or Fresher level. Moreover, the level of competition is very high.

Personally, I want to understand and do both hardware and software, so I prioritize Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. However, there are also opinions that in Vietnam, many people who study Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and then work in a different field to become programmers after graduation. The curriculum of Electronics and Telecommunications is also heavier than Information Technology with additional subjects such as Circuit Theory, Wave Propagation and Antenna Engineering, etc.

Can everyone advise me to understand these two majors? If I study Information Technology after graduation, can I do jobs in Electronics and Telecommunications and vice versa?

Thanks.
