Although the floods have receded over the past two weeks, the villages in western Nghe An are still facing many difficulties. The dirt roads are muddy, houses are in disarray, and many household appliances have been washed away. Although basic necessities such as rice, instant noodles, drinking water, etc. have been promptly supplied by relief teams, essential items for daily life, especially electrical appliances, are still in serious shortage.

Realizing that gap, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc came up with an idea: Instead of just carrying instant noodles, rice..., he would bring light and electricity to the people. True to his word, from August 8-9, he and his relatives and friends traveled hundreds of kilometers, bringing more than 1,000 electrical devices including LED bulbs, headlamps, electric kettles and especially solar lamps to 200 households in Coi village and Minh Phuong village, Luong Minh commune, one of the localities heavily affected by the recent floods.
Not only giving gifts, Mr. Ngoc's group also directly guides and installs solar lights in each household, especially poor households and areas without stable electricity, so they can use them immediately.

“After seeing the news about the floods, we really wanted to help the people. Seeing that many groups had provided necessities, I thought we should provide other items. And I think the thing that people lack the most is light. Light is extremely important for people's lives to return to normal,” Ngoc shared.
This action not only brings material value but also valuable spiritual medicine. The light from the solar lamps helps children in the highlands to study at night, and helps adults to do daily activities and clean the house more conveniently, especially during the days when the electricity grid is unstable after the flood. Many households were moved to see their houses lit up again.
Ms. Moong Thi Chau, a resident of Luong Minh commune, shared: “Previously, we had never used solar power, we had to rely on grid power. The flood caused power outages for several days, making it pitch dark, so we could only use candles or oil lamps for daily activities. Now that we have received support from solar lights, everyone in the family is happy, cleaning the house after the flood is easier, our children can go back to school, and we don’t have to worry about lack of light.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Minh Commune said: "After the flood, people received support from many units with necessities, but there is still a lack of electrical equipment. These gifts are really practical, helping people stabilize their lives faster. The locality is very grateful for the kindness of benefactors like Mr. Ngoc".
Not stopping at Luong Minh commune, the campaign "lighting up the flooded villages of Nghe An" by Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc and his colleagues also supported hundreds of electrical devices in Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son communes, which have also experienced heavy damage due to floods.

Each stop is not just a simple gift-giving trip, but also a journey to sow more light, joy and hope, contributing to easing the hardships left by natural disasters. Mr. Ngoc shared that after this charity trip, his group will continue to call for and mobilize benefactors to have more support programs for people in flooded areas, not only necessities but also necessary items and appliances such as light bulbs, electric fans, rice cookers, gas stoves... so that people can soon stabilize their lives.
With more hands joining in, we will not only light up a few villages, but can also spread the light to other rural areas, so that people in the flood center of Western Nghe An can be more steadfast in the upcoming stormy seasons...
