Nearly 117,000 officers and soldiers of Military Region 4 are ready to respond to storm No. 5.

In order to promptly respond to storm No. 5 (storm Kajiki), on the afternoon of August 24, Military Region 4 held a conference to assign tasks to deploy storm prevention and control work No. 5. Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh - Commander of the Military Region chaired the conference.

Attending the conference were Major General Doan Xuan Buong - Political Commissar of the Military Region; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Military Region Command; agencies of the Military Region; commanders of agencies and units of the Military Region located in the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh .

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 5, the Military Region Command organized 3 inspection teams to direct preparations for storm No. 5 and heavy rain, flooding, and flash floods in the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An , Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Hue city. Coordinated with local authorities to deploy response work according to the "4 on-site" motto, ready to mobilize forces and means to evacuate people in dangerous areas to safety.

Direct agencies and units to organize inspections of housing systems, offices, warehouses, stations, workshops and related works; deploy measures to ensure safety for barracks, warehouses, equipment, techniques, combat works and army activities, absolutely not to be passive or surprised.

Direct the Military Commands of provinces and cities to coordinate and advise local Party committees and authorities to inspect and review dangerously degraded high-rise apartment buildings, key areas at risk of local flooding, flash floods, landslides, riverbank and stream bank erosion, and low-lying areas; support people in tying and shoring up their houses and evacuating them from dangerous areas; coordinate with competent authorities to notify owners of vehicles operating at sea of ​​the developments and direction of storm No. 5 so that they can proactively move, avoid, and take shelter, and not enter dangerous areas; guide the anchoring of boats at anchorage areas; deploy work to ensure the safety of people and property on islands and coastal areas; maintain regular communication, and be ready to handle any situations that arise.

Direct subordinate units to prepare barracks ready to support and ensure food and accommodation for people to avoid and take shelter when requested; do a good job of responding to and being ready to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, ensuring safety in all aspects; prepare logistics and technical support for disaster response.

The Military Region directed 116,940 comrades in units to prepare forces to be ready to participate in storm response (including 15,365 regular soldiers and 101,575 militia and self-defense forces); 1,213 vehicles of all kinds (including 635 cars, 31 special vehicles, and 547 boats of all kinds).

Concluding the conference, Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh - Commander of the Military Region requested agencies and units to temporarily stop all unnecessary activities; continue to inspect and reinforce houses and warehouses, ensuring absolute safety for people, weapons, equipment, and vehicles of agencies and units. Maintain 100% of military personnel on duty, prepare plans to handle situations that arise, minimize damage caused by storms and storm circulation. Coordinate with local Party committees, authorities and functional forces to evacuate people from areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides, etc. Prepare food and provisions to be ready to respond to situations.
