Henman: 'Djokovic will win two Grand Slams in 2024'

VnExpressVnExpress29/12/2023

Former world number four Tim Henman believes Novak Djokovic will win two Grand Slams next year, with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner each claiming one.

"Djokovic will still be the biggest candidate, followed by Alcaraz and Sinner with equal chances," Henman told Eurosport on December 27. "Alcaraz has won two Grand Slams, while Sinner has reached another level in the last months of 2023. There are only four Grand Slams, so I think Djokovic will win two and Alcaraz and Sinner will share the remaining two."

Djokovic, while attending the Season Cup on December 27, also said that he aims to win as many Grand Slams as possible, thereby having a successful and long career like football legend Tom Brady. At the age of 36, Nole also does not rule out the possibility of continuing to compete when he reaches his forties.

If Djokovic wins two more Grand Slams as Henman predicts, the Serbian will reach 26 Grand Slams and hold the record for both men's and women's singles. According to Henman, Nole's greatness is acknowledged by all and it is time for fans to focus on other rivalries.

"Alcaraz and Djokovic are a pair of fierce rivals, but I think Alcaraz is closer to Sinner and Holger Rune," the former Briton added. "That trio will face each other a lot in the future major tournaments. I and the audience will enjoy the confrontation between them."

Alcaraz and Sinner have met seven times, with Sinner winning four. Sinner also leads Rune in the head-to-head record, with two wins and one loss. Rune has also played three matches against Alcaraz and lost two.

Henman rates Alcaraz and Sinner as still better than Rune. "When Sinner plays against Alcaraz, they produce incredible matches," said the Eurosport expert. "They have two different personalities. Alcaraz plays more diversely, but Sinner is extraordinary in terms of power at the back of the court. Alcaraz used to be far ahead of Sinner, but the gap between them is now much closer after the Italian's performances at the end of the year."
