With its important position as a traffic hub of the country, the traffic infrastructure system in Dong Nai province is being strongly invested in and built, aiming to create a synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure network to serve the socio -economic development needs of the province.
Dong Nai - the country's largest construction site
After nearly 3 years of construction, on August 19, 2025, Component 1A Project, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City was officially inaugurated and put into operation. The first 8km of one of the important ring roads of the Southeast region, especially Nhon Trach Bridge, directly connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai, was put into operation, opening up great opportunities for Dong Nai to promote socio-economic development.
Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Finance Truong Thi Huong Binh assessed: The inauguration and operation of Component 1A Project, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section will shorten the journey from Dong Nai province to Ho Chi Minh City. From there, it opens a new development path, creating favorable conditions for the transportation of goods, enhancing trade exchange, remote traffic separation and reducing congestion on inner-city routes of Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time as the inauguration of Component 1A Project, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, there were 4 other traffic infrastructure projects in the province including: Expansion of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway; Component 1 Project, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway; Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway (phase 1) and Ma Da Bridge were also simultaneously started and broke ground for construction. If the projects to build and expand expressways will enhance the regional connectivity between Dong Nai and neighboring localities, Ma Da Bridge is an important "piece" in forming the "backbone" intra-provincial connection route of the new Dong Nai province.
Transport infrastructure is identified as one of the breakthrough areas for development of the province. Dong Nai will soon have all 5 modes of transport: road, rail, air, sea and inland waterway.
Comrade Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee
Dong Nai not only "owns" the central location of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic zone, but is also one of the important traffic hubs of the whole country. Therefore, in recent times, a series of important traffic infrastructure projects of the whole country have been implemented in the province such as: Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway; Ben Luc - Long Thanh; Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City... These projects are scheduled to be completed in 2026. Along with that, in the province, a series of other traffic infrastructure projects have also been officially "started" such as the expressways: Dau Giay - Tan Phu; Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh; Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh...
According to Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha, with a series of infrastructure projects, especially transport infrastructure, being simultaneously implemented in the area, Dong Nai is becoming a "big construction site" of the whole country.
Opening up new development spaces
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc said: Long Thanh Airport and the expressways and beltways passing through the province, when completed and put into operation, will open up great opportunities for Dong Nai province to develop. Not only playing a role in traffic connection, traffic infrastructure projects when put into operation will also open up new development spaces for the province.

In order to make the most of new development spaces, in recent times, along with investing in upgrading and expanding provincial roads connecting to Long Thanh Airport and expressways, Dong Nai has also promoted the planning of areas adjacent to these traffic routes. The province's goal is to make the most of new development spaces in these areas; at the same time, spreading development momentum widely. From there, creating new positions and strengths for the province.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tran Du Lich, member of the Dong Nai Province Socio-Economic Advisory Group, assessed: Currently, Dong Nai is developing its strengths in airports and seaports with additional border gates. If a railway from Ho Chi Minh City to the border gate and a highway to Chon Thanh are soon formed, this system will create momentum for the province to develop.
“Long Thanh Airport, when all phases are completed, will become one of the 6 largest airports in the world.”
Deputy Prime Minister HO DUC PHOC
During a working trip with the Provincial People's Committee on the socio-economic development situation in 2025 and the removal of difficulties and obstacles in the province on August 15, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc said: Dong Nai is currently a "big construction site" with many key projects under implementation. The province has a special position with great potential and advantages for development.
“With Long Thanh Airport, many seaports, industrial parks, highways and soon railways, these are mutually supportive factors, closely linked in socio-economic development. Therefore, I believe that Dong Nai will accelerate its development in the near future,” Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc shared.
