At the meeting, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee sent to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor in the resistance war, wounded soldiers, revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy, and all comrades his respectful greetings, kind regards, and wishes for health and happiness.
80 years ago, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh, our people achieved the victory of the August Revolution, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. National Day September 2 is a brilliant milestone, a day when our entire nation is proud of the heroic historical journey, of the precious independence and freedom won with the blood and great sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers.

“The capital Hanoi, a place rich in revolutionary tradition, has had many outstanding sons of the capital who fought bravely and sacrificed for independence and freedom. Every inch of land, every street of the capital today bears the mark of history, is soaked with sweat, blood and tears of heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers and those who have contributed to the revolution”, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed and affirmed that the Government and people of the capital always deeply and forever remember the immense merits of the heroic martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, wounded soldiers, revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the enemy. They are the ones who devoted their youth, blood and even their whole lives to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, building and defending the Fatherland.

In that spirit, the Party Committee, Government and people of the Capital always identify the work of "Repaying gratitude" and taking care of people with revolutionary contributions as a top priority political task, a regular responsibility and the sacred morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the nation. In the first 8 months of 2025, Hanoi City spent a total of 2,577 billion VND on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions, with 76,462 people with revolutionary contributions and their relatives.
The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also said that at today's meeting, we are honored to welcome 7 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, including 4 Mothers from the capital and 3 Mothers from Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh and Can Tho provinces. The Mothers are those who silently sacrificed, feeling most deeply the loss of their relatives and children who fought and sacrificed heroically for independence and freedom. We met 2 delegates of the Armed Forces Heroes, 3 Labor Heroes in the resistance war, 4 representatives of war invalids and 3 revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the enemy from Hanoi and the provinces of Quang Tri and Phu Tho. You, my comrades, are those who participated in the fight, achieved many achievements, and contributed to the victory of the Spring of 1975, unifying the country.
Hope the capital will develop more and more

Despite my old age and poor health, I will always encourage my children and grandchildren to strictly follow the Party’s policies and the State’s laws and actively contribute to the development of our capital city to become more and more prosperous,” said Mother Nguyen Thi Diem.

Sharing the joy of the country's great day, Mr. Tran Manh Hien (81 years old, Hero of the Armed Forces, at 36 To Vinh Dien, Khuong Dinh Ward, Hanoi) expressed: "Every National Day leaves me with different emotions. I still feel the same as on Independence Day 50 years ago - in 1975 when our country was unified.
