Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Football Tournament 2025: Determined to win or lose, no draw accepted!

The Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Football Tournament 2025 is held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), aiming to create a fun playground and create solidarity for journalists in Ho Chi Minh City.

Exciting Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Football Tournament 2025

According to annual tradition, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association cooperates with Saigon Entrepreneur Magazine and the Sports Reporters Club to organize many activities, including the Sports Festival - Ho Chi Minh City Journalists' Day, including tennis, pickleball and football (men's and women's) for reporters, editors, officers and employees of central and local newspapers and radio stations in the city.

This is one of the most bustling activities of the press, because the participants are all reporters, editors, leaders of news agencies, newspapers and radio stations in the city and nationwide.

The football tournament will start from June 28 to July 9 at Tao Dan football field, gathering 12 men's teams from the following units: Thanh Nien Newspaper , HTV, VTV9, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, VOH, Lien Quan of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper - Znews, SCTV, FPT Play, Saigon Economic Magazine, VnExpress; and 4 women's football teams: Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and SCTV.

Teams compete in a round robin format with no draws. In the event that the official match ends in a draw, a 6-meter penalty shootout (5 for each team) will take place. The winning team will receive 3 points, the winning team will receive 2 points, the losing team will still receive 1 point, and the losing team will receive no points. The top two teams in each group will compete in a knockout match to determine the champion.

Many attractive prizes

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Football Tournament has many attractive prize categories, in which the champion team will receive a cup, flag, gold medal, gifts and 10 million VND. The runner-up team will receive 5 million VND, the bronze medal team will receive 3 million VND. In addition, the style award winning team will receive 2 million VND, the top scorer and the best goalkeeper will each receive 1 million VND.

In the women's category, the champion team will receive a cup, flag, gold medal and a prize of 4 million VND. The runner-up and bronze medalists will receive 2 million and 1.5 million VND respectively, along with 1 million VND for the consolation prize. The players who win the titles of Top Scorer and Best Goalkeeper will receive 1 million VND each. In particular, the Organizing Committee will vote for the title of Miss Football with a flag and a gift of 1 million VND.

In the men's football event, Thanh Nien Newspaper team is in a very tough group D with opponents HTV, VTV9. Group A includes FPT Play, Saigon Economic Magazine, SCTV. Group B includes VOH, Tuoi Tre Newspaper and VnExpress. Group C includes Lien Quan Phap Luat TP.HCM - Znews, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper .
