7 military regions of the Ministry of National Defense dissolved district-level military commands

On June 24, Military Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9 (Ministry of National Defense) held a ceremony to announce the decision to merge and reorganize the provincial military command.

Accordingly, Military Region 1 has dissolved 56 district-level military commands. After reorganization, the organizational structure and number of local military agencies under Military Region 1 include: 4 provincial-level military commands (Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang and Lang Son), regional defense commands (PTKV), 2 border guard commands (BĐBP) under the military commands of Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces.

The Military Region 2 Command has announced decisions on the dissolution of the district, city and town military commands under the provincial military command of Military Region 2; the decision to establish the Border Guard command boards under the provincial military command; the decision to establish the PTKV command boards under the provincial military command.

The Military Region 3 Command announced decisions on merging and reorganizing the Military Commands of provinces and cities under Military Region 3 and awarding the victory flag to 4 provincial-level Military Commands and the Border Guard Command; and the PTKV Commands.

Military Region 3 was reorganized into 4 units: Hai Phong City Military Command, Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command, Hung Yen Provincial Military Command and Ninh Binh Provincial Military Command.

The Military Region 4 Command has announced the decision to merge and reorganize the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command and the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command into the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command; establish the PTKV Command Boards and Border Guard Command Boards of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , Quang Tri provinces, and Hue City.

Military Region 5 has announced decisions to dissolve the district-level military commands under the military commands of provinces and cities under Military Region 5; merge and reorganize the provincial and city military commands under Military Region 5; establish the Border Guard Command and the Regional Defense Command under the military commands of provinces and cities under Military Region 5.

Military Region 7 has announced decisions on merging and reorganizing provincial military commands; establishing the Border Guard Command; the Regional Defense Command under the provincial military commands. Newly establishing the Ho Chi Minh City Command; the Military Commands of Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh provinces and the Border Guard Commands, the Regional Defense Command under the Ho Chi Minh City Command and the Military Commands of Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh provinces.

Military Region 9 has announced decisions to dissolve, merge and reorganize provincial military commands. According to the decisions, Military Region 9 will have 5 new provincial military commands after the merger, including: Can Tho City Military Command; Vinh Long Provincial Military Command, An Giang Provincial Military Command, Dong Thap Provincial Military Command and Ca Mau Provincial Military Command.

Major changes in the organization and staffing of local military agencies

Attending the ceremony to announce the decision to merge and reorganize local military agencies of Military Region 2, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, said that Military Region 2 has a particularly important strategic position in terms of national defense, security, economy and foreign affairs of the whole country. It is a land rich in revolutionary historical traditions, and is the site of many important campaigns and battles, battles that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world."

According to General Phan Van Giang, the project to reorganize the local military organization to be "refined, compact, and strong" is a major policy of great significance, marking a historical milestone in adjusting the organization of military forces, in line with reality, demonstrating strategic thinking, meeting the requirements of consolidating national defense, building and protecting the Fatherland in the new period.

This is a correct policy, creating a major change in the organization and staffing of local military agencies. At the same time, it sets out new contents on the mechanism of leadership, command, and management of local military work such as: management of citizens of military age; registration, management, arrangement, and training of reserve mobilization resources; combat readiness work...

General Phan Van Giang requested Party committees and commanders at all levels in Military Region 2 to clearly define the functions, tasks, and roles of local military organizations in building and training reserve forces and militia and self-defense forces to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

Agencies and units must not let dissolution, transfer, or merger disrupt or affect the quality and progress of assigned tasks.
