Man Utd have reportedly made a second bid worth more than £60m for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, after the Red Devils rejected an initial bid of £45m plus £10m in add-ons earlier this month.

Talks between the two clubs have been ongoing, and it is hoped this improved offer will convince Brentford to part ways. Mbeumo is entering the final 12 months of his Brentford contract, although the club have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.
Head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to have Mbeumo in his squad before the players return to pre-season training on July 7. The Portuguese tactician is trying to address a serious goal deficit at the club, who scored just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.
Previously, Man Utd recruited striker Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5 million. Mbeumo scored 20 goals and had 7 assists for Brentford last season, the 25-year-old striker is expected to strengthen the attacking options for the "Red Devils". However, coach Amorim still wants to add a real striker, but this depends on Man Utd being able to sell players not in the plan such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony to raise funds for reinvestment.
Elsewhere, former defender Jonny Evans is set to join the Man Utd backroom staff after agreeing a deal to take charge of youth loan deals. Evans retired at the end of last season and Man Utd are keen to keep him at the club, believing his experience and professionalism could play a key role in developing young players.

Evans came through the Man Utd academy before moving to West Bromwich Albion in 2015, only to return to Old Trafford eight years later. His character, professionalism and experience are seen as valuable qualities the club will be keen to exploit in the future.
He will fill the role left by Les Parry after the former United loan manager left the club last November to take up a similar role at NEOM SC in Saudi Arabia. Evans' role will include identifying suitable clubs to send young players to, monitoring their progress and providing the necessary support.
In a glittering 19-year playing career, Evans made 538 appearances for five different clubs. He won three Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd and was capped 107 times by Northern Ireland.
