Specifically, in Dak Nong and Dak Lak, pepper prices last week increased sharply by 3,000 VND/kg compared to the previous week. Gia Lai recorded an increase of 2,500 VND/kg. According to a report from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first half of August 2025, domestic enterprises exported 10,830 tons of pepper, earning 71.8 million USD. Compared to July 2025, the export volume decreased slightly by 0.2% but the value increased by 2.1% thanks to higher export prices.

Among the large pepper exporting enterprises, Simexco Dak Lak has unexpectedly risen to the top with 1,076 tons, accounting for nearly 10% of the market share. The following positions belong to Olam Vietnam (1,002 tons), Nedspice Vietnam (833 tons), Haprosimex JSC (803 tons) and Phuc Sinh (611 tons). The total pepper export turnover up to this point has exceeded the 1 billion USD mark and is approaching 1.1 billion USD.

According to VPSA, the 2025 pepper harvest in our country has officially ended with an estimated output of 180,000 tons, a decrease of about 10,000 tons compared to 2024. The decrease in output has limited supply, affecting export volume in recent months.

Pepper price today August 25 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on August 24 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,129 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,966 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000/tonne.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,600/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,800/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950/ton.

At the end of last week's trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) reported that Indonesian black pepper prices decreased by 1.1% compared to the previous week. On the other hand, Malaysian ASTA black pepper increased by 2.13%, equivalent to 200 USD/ton. Similarly, Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper prices increased by 150 USD/ton.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased by 80 USD/ton. In contrast, Malaysian ASTA white pepper increased by 100 USD/ton. Meanwhile, the export price of Vietnamese pepper remained the same as last week.

The reason for the lack of fluctuations in Vietnam's pepper export prices is that the 20% reciprocal tax rate that the US applies to goods imported from Vietnam does not cause major concerns for pepper exporting enterprises. Compared to other countries, Vietnam's reciprocal tax is competitive as Indonesia is subject to a 19% tax, while Brazil and India are subject to a tax rate of up to 50%.

Global pepper prices are forecast to increase in the second half of 2025 due to increased demand from major markets. This will create more favorable conditions for Vietnam's pepper exports. Although exports to the US in the third quarter may face some difficulties due to the impact of taxes, the situation is expected to improve from the fourth quarter onwards.

The US market is expected to see a sharp increase in orders in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026 as importers begin to build inventories for the peak consumption season. This prospect will help the Vietnamese pepper industry maintain stability and develop sustainably in the coming time.
