According to experts, domestic pepper prices are currently in a state of flux. Supply is scarce, but purchasing power has not really improved. Many businesses are still waiting for more positive signals from the two major markets of China and Europe, hoping for a breakthrough in the last quarter of the year.
In the international market, pepper prices remain high, which is a factor that creates opportunities for Vietnamese pepper if demand increases again. However, in the medium and long term, experts believe that pepper prices will continue to fluctuate within a narrow range. However, if the export market is more active in the fourth quarter, the possibility of price recovery is still entirely possible.
From the business perspective, many traders admit that although inventories are not high, purchasing power is still weak, creating great pressure on the market. Export businesses are still in a wait-and-see mode, not rushing to buy heavily when signals from major markets are not clear.
According to preliminary data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 17 days of July 2025, Vietnam exported 10,808 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 70.3 million USD. Compared to the same period last month, export volume decreased by 7.8% and turnover decreased by 11.1%.
The main export markets were still the US with 1,472 tons, the UAE with 1,290 tons and China with 1,072 tons. However, the average export price during this period was only 6,500 USD/ton, a significant decrease compared to the average of 6,881 USD/ton in the first 6 months of the year.
