Pepper price today June 11, 2025: Scattered slight decreases

The Vietnamese pepper industry is currently awaiting an official decision on the applicable tax rate, in the context of the export market not having many positive changes. In the US, the amount of pepper imported from Vietnam is gradually decreasing, while China has not yet returned to buying strongly as before, causing pepper prices on the market to remain almost unchanged in recent times.

Although pepper exports to China have been increasing month by month, this country is still not in the top 3 largest consumer markets of Vietnam. According to statistics, China needs from 90,000 to 100,000 tons of pepper per year, while domestic supply can only meet about 20,000 to 30,000 tons. This means they have to import from 60,000 to 70,000 tons per year.

In addition, the USD/VND exchange rate is constantly fluctuating, causing many businesses to be hesitant and temporarily refrain from promoting large-scale goods collection. They are still waiting for clearer signals from the market and policies.

Pepper price today June 11 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on June 10 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices increased sharply compared to yesterday at USD 7,508/ton (up 0.95%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged compared to yesterday at USD 10,142/ton.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price increased slightly compared to yesterday at 6,175 USD/ton (up 0.4%).

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,100/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $11,850/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,300 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,400 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,300/ton.

In the international market, pepper exports are becoming more active. In May, Brazil exported more than 10,000 tons worth up to 66 million USD. Although the volume decreased slightly, the export value still increased by more than 10%. Compared to the same period in 2024, Brazil's pepper exports increased by 75%, showing that global market demand is still relatively positive.

In the coming months, Indonesia will enter its main harvest in July and August. However, initial assessments show that the country's output will decrease sharply, estimated to decrease by 20 to 30 percent compared to last year due to the impact of climate change.

Meanwhile, Brazil is forecast to have a better harvest in 2024, with output increasing by about 15,000 tons. However, Brazilian farmers are not under much pressure to sell because they have earned stable profits from coffee, helping to maintain cash flow and be more proactive in their pepper business strategy.
