According to a survey from Cho Gia website (chogia.vn), the domestic durian market on June 20, 2025 generally did not record many fluctuations compared to yesterday. Transactions were quiet, common prices continued to be maintained, especially for RI6 and Thai durian varieties.
In the Southwest region - one of the major durian capitals of Vietnam, beautifully selected RI6 durian is traded at 45,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, while RI6 durian bought in bulk is kept at a lower price, only 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg. The price of beautifully selected Thai durian in this region fluctuates from 76,000 - 84,000 VND/kg, stable compared to recent sessions.
In the Southeast, the market reflects similar stability, with RI6 and Thai Dep durians priced at the same level as in the Western region. Thai durians purchased in bulk continue to be priced at 45,000 - 48,000 VND/kg - a level suitable for domestic consumption.
In the Central Highlands, the price of Thai durian is slightly higher, especially for the selected variety, reaching 80,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. This is an area with special soil conditions, helping durian grow well and produce superior quality. The selected RI6 durian here recorded the lowest price of 44,000 VND/kg, reflecting slowing consumption.
Notably, the Musang King variety – the “durian king” from Malaysia – is currently priced at VND110,000 – 115,000/kg at high-end fruit stores. Although not popular in traditional markets, Musang King still holds a market share thanks to its distinctive flavor, yellow flesh, small seeds and distinctive strong aroma.
In Vietnam, durian season is now in full swing in many provinces in the West such as Tien Giang, Ben Tre , Vinh Long, and specialized growing districts in the Central Highlands such as Krong Pak, Krong Nang (Dak Lak). Abundant supply has prevented durian prices from rising sharply, but demand from the domestic market – especially in large cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi – remains high.
Agricultural experts predict that if the weather is favorable and the Chinese market continues to open steadily, durian prices from now until the end of the season may remain stable or increase slightly in July. However, competition from countries such as Thailand and Cambodia also requires quality, origin and compliance with export standards.
