World coffee prices today

On the London exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures contract for September 2025 delivery closed this morning's trading session on July 13 at 3,216 USD/ton, down sharply by 3.13% (104 USD/ton) compared to the previous trading session; the futures contract for November 2025 delivery decreased by 3.18% (104 USD/ton), down to 3,170 USD/ton.

Similarly, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee futures for September 2025 delivery decreased by 0.45% (1.3 US cents/pound), to 286.5 US cents/pound; the contract for December 2025 delivery decreased by 0.58% (1.65 US cents/pound), to 280.45 US cents/pound.

Coffee prices continued to fall today on both international exchanges, with robusta hitting a 14-month low. The main reasons were favorable harvest progress in Brazil, strong global supply growth and profit-taking by hedge funds.

In Brazil, the coffee harvest is progressing faster than usual. As of July 9, nearly 70% of the crop was completed, exceeding the five-year average. At the same time, the Brazilian real has weakened while the US dollar has strengthened, prompting Brazilian farmers to boost sales to international markets.

According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, global coffee output in the 2024-2025 crop year is forecast to reach 174.4 million bags, while demand is only about 169.36 million bags, creating a surplus of more than 9 million bags, the highest in 5 years.

Robusta prices therefore continue to be under deep downward pressure, especially when Vietnam is also strongly increasing the amount of goods released to the market.

In Vietnam, the sharp drop in coffee prices has caused transactions to slow down. Many coffee growers in the Central Highlands are reluctant to sell at low prices, causing the domestic market to almost freeze since the end of June. According to exporters, domestic coffee prices are heavily dependent on the world market, and if speculative funds continue to sell off, prices will have little chance of recovering in the short term.

Meanwhile, arabica prices were volatile in the short term due to concerns over US-Brazil trade tensions. Prices rose sharply at the beginning of the session after Brazil threatened to retaliate if the US imposed a 50% tariff on Brazilian imports. However, prices fell by the end of the session.

If the tariffs are imposed from August 1, Brazilian coffee exports to the US will almost come to a standstill, a situation that could push up ICE coffee prices in the short term due to increased demand for US inventories.
