Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association in maintaining and promoting the role of people-to-people diplomacy in the context of many difficulties. According to him, the Association has closely followed the orientation of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, effectively implemented exchange activities, and connected businesses, contributing to promoting practical cooperation between the two countries.
In particular, immediately after the earthquake that caused serious damage in Myanmar in March 2025, the Association quickly mobilized and donated more than 400 million VND from organizations and individuals to support the people of the neighboring country. "This is a timely action, demonstrating the sense of responsibility, sincere friendship and effectiveness of the Association on the people's foreign affairs channel," Mr. Son emphasized.

Based on the proposal of the Asia-Africa Committee, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations decided to award an extraordinary Certificate of Merit to the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association for its active contributions to the mobilization of support for earthquake victims in Myanmar. On this occasion, the Union also awarded the Medal "For Peace and Friendship among Nations" to 5 outstanding individuals of the Association, including: Mr. Chu Cong Phung - Chairman of the Association; Mr. Dao Ngoc Tam and Ms. Luan Thuy Duong - Vice Chairmen of the Association; Mr. Nguyen Van Bay and Mr. Nguyen Ba Khoat - Members of the Association's Standing Committee for their many active contributions to people-to-people diplomacy.
At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Anh Son informed about the process of reorganizing the apparatus of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and emphasized the orientation to improve the operational efficiency of member organizations in the new period, including the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association.

Mr. Son said that what the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association is doing, especially in the field of business connection, is completely consistent with the orientation of international integration and promoting the private economy according to Resolution 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new situation and Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development of the Politburo . This is a favorable time for the Association to further promote its role as a bridge, contributing to deepening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Myanmar on the people's channel.

Chairman of the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association Chu Cong Phung expressed his gratitude for the timely recognition of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. He said that although it is a small association, over the years, the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association has always strived to maintain practical activities, from connecting the business community, supporting the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic to calling for emergency donations during natural disasters. He affirmed that the Association will continue to promote a sense of responsibility and initiative, contributing more effectively to people-to-people diplomacy, especially in the fields of economic cooperation, post-disaster reconstruction and connecting people of the two countries.
