Nearly 150 Lao Cai students participate in the National High School Sports Tournament

According to information from the Department of Education and Training, Lao Cai has 145 athletes participating in the 2025 National High School Sports Tournament.

These are students selected from high schools in the province.

Lao Cai athletes competed in all 5 sports (men's junior high school soccer; men's and women's junior high school basketball; swimming; athletics and Vovinam martial arts at all 3 levels: primary, secondary and high school.

The 2025 National High School Sports Tournament was held in Hue City from June 9 to 16, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Hue City People's Committee and the Vietnam Student Sports Association.

The tournament gathered nearly 2,300 student athletes from education and training departments across the country. The athletes competed in 186 sets of medals in 5 sports: Football, basketball, swimming, athletics and Vovinam.

The National High School Sports Tournament is held annually to promote physical training and contribute to improving the overall quality of education for students. Through the tournament, elite athletes will be selected to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian School Sports Festival scheduled to take place in Brunei later this year.
