According to Decision No. 149/QD-CTN signed bythe President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on January 24, 2025, Coach Mai Duc Chung was honored to be awarded the title "Hero of Labor" for his outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

In the latest post, the FIFA Women's World Cup social networking site posted a picture of coach Mai Duc Chung, along with the caption: "Hero of Labor".
Coach Mai Duc Chung has achieved great success with Vietnamese women's football. The 73-year-old coach and the Vietnamese women's team won 6 SEA Games gold medals (2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023), won the 2019 AFF Women's Cup, placed fourth at the 2014 ASIAD, placed fifth at the 2022 Asian Cup and especially won a ticket to the 2023 Women's World Cup.
FIFA once mentioned coach Mai Duc Chung as an example of effort and perseverance. They wrote: "Coach Mai Duc Chung has devoted decades to the Vietnamese women's team in particular and Vietnamese football in general. Leading the Vietnamese women's team to compete in the World Cup is a worthy reward for this coach."
Sharing after being awarded the title "Hero of Labor", Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: "This is the most noble and honorable award in my life. This title is an honor for myself and my whole family.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Party and State, the authorities, the National Training Center 1 and the Vietnam Football Federation for always caring and creating conditions for me to be able to complete my tasks. I would also like to thank the clubs, colleagues in the coaching staff and the players who have always accompanied me on the past journey."
"This honor will be a motivation for me to continue to strive and contribute to Vietnamese football. My health may not be as good as before, but with everything I have, I always remind myself to be more active, to do my best to achieve more achievements with the team members, worthy of this title," the head coach of the Vietnamese women's team shared more.
