Three of the 12 old continent teams left the tournament right after the group stage and when the round of 16 has not ended, three more European representatives had to say goodbye to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The dizzying pace of developments and the "earthquakes" have turned the tournament in the US into the most worth-watching sporting event this summer. Instead of the not-so-optimistic predictions about the club-level tournament model that FIFA is determined to reform and innovate, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup attracts viewers with quality matches with no less than 60,000 spectators coming to the stadium each match. The dream number of 80,000 people even appeared when Champions League champion Paris Saint-Germain faced Atletico Madrid in the opening match.

Many European teams complained about the tight schedule, but surprisingly, no team withdrew from the tournament. Instead, the "big guys" even brought their strongest squads to the US and gave viewers extremely high-quality matches.
Only by watching Bayern Munich play extremely seriously, not letting their feet down when pouring 10 goals into the weak opponent Auckland City; Man City proudly being the only team to win all in the group stage or new head coach Xabi Alonso having to constantly adjust his squad and tactics to help Real Madrid get a ticket to the next round can one see the determination and desire to succeed of the names that have built a "global brand". No one wants to fall behind in this tournament with a brand new, strange version and extremely high prize money.
If the "old style" FIFA Club World Cup tournaments, which only had the final match between European and South American representatives, were worth waiting for, and everyone knew the strength of European football with absolute victories in... the last 11 tournaments, then this time Europe is not sure to win.
Only 9/12 teams passed the group stage and most likely only 5 of them will make it to the quarter-finals. Europe is receiving huge shocks after Man City and Inter Milan packed their bags and returned home early.
However, with the possibility of 3 out of 4 quarter-final matches having European representatives and at least 2 teams predicted to reach the semi-finals, the chances of the "big guys" winning the title are very high. The story of Man City and Inter Milan is a lesson for the journey of conquest ahead for Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and possibly Dortmund.
