On November 24, Phu Tho General Hospital announced that doctors from the Dermatology Department had successfully treated a patient with infection, edema, and discharge in many areas after bathing with herbal medicine to treat atopic dermatitis.

Patient NTTH, 28 years old, in Lam Thao, had a history of atopic dermatitis for 1 year. After listening to people's advice, he bought herbal medicine to bathe in. However, after bathing, the condition did not improve but became worse.

When taken to Phu Tho General Hospital, the patient had severe itching, widespread redness, edema, discharge, and infection in many areas.

After examination, the patient was treated with systemic corticosteroids, anti-infective antibiotics, antihistamines, and topical corticosteroids to help reduce itching and inflammation.

Patients are instructed on how to care for the wound locally, apply moisturizers, and bathe with moisturizing shower gel.

After treatment, the condition improved, the lesion was dry, dark, and no longer swollen.

Doctors at Phu Tho General Hospital recommend that people should not use any medicine or leaves without a doctor's prescription. Using herbal medicines of unknown origin to treat diseases can pose many potential risks, have not been scientifically proven, and can cause secondary infections, necrosis, and even sepsis, which is life-threatening.

Therefore, when there are symptoms of the disease, people need to go to medical facilities for examination and treatment according to the doctor's instructions, to avoid unfortunate consequences of late treatment.
