During the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, in Thua Thien Hue province, the weather was favorable, so cultural, sports and tourism festivals took place vibrantly, attracting tens of thousands of people and tourists. The total number of tourists coming to the ancient capital of Hue during and after the Lunar New Year increased.
In the early days of the year of the Dragon, the number of visitors to Hue for spring travel is very large. Some travel agencies organize tours to bring groups of visitors from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang... to visit Hue. From Tet to mid-February 2024, Thua Thien Hue province welcomed more than 115,000 visitors to historical sites and scenic spots. Tourism revenue is more than 160 billion VND.
Ms. Tran Ngoc Bich, a tourist from the US who visited Hue Imperial City, shared her feelings when she came to Hue at the beginning of the new year: “I came back to Vietnam from the US, visited from the South to the North and then visited Hue, visited the works that I learned about in history. I really enjoyed it. If I have the chance to come back again, I will visit them in detail. When I travel independently, I will visit more places.”
To facilitate people and tourists to visit and enjoy spring, from the first to the third day of the Lunar New Year, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will offer free admission to the relic sites managed by this unit. The third day of the Lunar New Year is the peak day, with the relic sites welcoming 49,000 visitors.
Ms. Tran Thanh Huyen, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, said: “When I arrived in Hue, I saw that the number of visitors this year was quite large compared to previous years. The economic situation is difficult, but I saw that the number of visitors to tourist attractions is quite crowded. Firstly, about cuisine, I find Hue cuisine very attractive, with many traditional dishes and unique characteristics of the Central region and of Hue in particular. Secondly, this place has many historical architectures, beautiful natural landscapes and especially the typical peace of Hue. That is the reason why tourists want to come to Hue to find peace.”
At Hue Imperial City, during Tet holidays, many activities take place in the tourism stimulus chain in 2024. These are traditional art performances, serving visitors free of charge. Many localities in Thua Thien Hue province also organize festivals imbued with traditional cultural identity, attracting a large number of people and tourists. Through the festival, it has contributed to preserving and spreading the traditional cultural values of the ancient capital. Many festivals such as: The pole raising and lowering ceremony, Huyen Tran Temple Festival, Thu Le wrestling, Sinh village wrestling have become cultural tourism products, attracting a large number of tourists to Hue.
Mr. Hoang Viet Trung - Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that the Hue heritage site currently welcomes more than 10,000 visitors per day. “This year, the number of visitors is almost double that of last year, reaching 105,000 during the three days of Tet, and the following days will average 14,000 - 15,000 visitors. We have prepared very carefully to welcome visitors. Firstly, we will display two important palaces, Kien Trung Palace and Thai Hoa Palace, along with experiential activities, art games, performances, and services that are unique to the Royal Palace. Visitors highly appreciate the attractiveness of Hue this year.”
Coming to Hue during the Lunar New Year, most visitors are impressed with the interactive programs and traditional cultural experiences that welcome guests. The activities to welcome the Spring of the ancient capital of Hue meet the needs of tourists and the local community.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc - Director of Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism said that Thua Thien Hue province has a policy of free entrance tickets for domestic visitors during the first 3 days of the year. This is also a very effective form of tourism stimulus, attracting domestic and international visitors to Thua Thien Hue during Tet.
“During the traditional Vietnamese New Year, the number of tourists coming to Hue is very large, not only domestic tourists but also international tourists, because this is the time of the inbound tourist season. Currently, domestic tourists, especially from big cities, also organize tours to Hue for sightseeing and experiences. Destination businesses such as hotel businesses have ways to welcome guests when they come to Hue during the New Year to create an impression of tourists on the land and people of Hue,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc.
