On June 8, the domestic and world pepper markets were stable and flat compared to yesterday's trading session.
Statistics show that domestic pepper prices fluctuate between 142,000 - 143,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg compared to last week, depending on the locality.
Meanwhile, last week, black pepper prices in Brazil and Vietnam continued to decline, down by $500/ton and $200/ton respectively compared to the previous week, while Indonesia saw a slight increase of $10/ton.
Experts say that the US is a country that cannot produce pepper and is completely dependent on imports, of which 60-70% is imported from Vietnam. Therefore, immediately after the US government announced the reciprocal tax, the US Spice Association made a petition to the Trump administration, reflecting concerns about the unintended negative consequences that the new tariffs could cause to the spice industry and consumers in this country.

For these reasons, the final reciprocal tax rate on Vietnamese pepper imported into the United States may not be high, thereby Vietnamese pepper still has opportunities in this market. Specifically, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,437 USD/ton; similarly, Muntok white pepper is currently purchased at 10,142 USD/ton.
The Malaysian pepper market continues to remain stable, currently the price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is purchased at 9,150 USD/ton and the price of ASTA white pepper is at 11,850 USD/ton.
Pepper prices in Brazil tend to move sideways, with little fluctuation compared to the previous trading session. Currently, the purchase price is at 6,150 USD/ton.
Vietnam's pepper export market has stabilized and is currently flat. Vietnam's black pepper export price is currently at 6,300 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,400 USD/ton and white pepper is at 9,300 USD/ton.
