On December 27, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province handed over the decision approving the project to build a Seed and Agricultural Products Processing Industrial Center invested by Vietnam Rice Company Limited (VinaRice) in Truong Xuan Industrial Cluster, Thap Muoi district.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has implemented many projects towards building a green, sustainable economy towards improving the quality of Vietnamese rice.
"It is from agriculture that Dong Thap has implemented many socio-economic development programs, becoming the largest rice exporting province in the country in 2024 with 780 million USD. At the same time, it aims to be the leader in the Mekong Delta region, at least in the rice sector.
In just 5 years, VinaRice has had remarkable growth alongside many other businesses, contributing to the development of the processing and export industry in the province," said Mr. Nghia.
Quoting Mr. Le Minh Hoan (Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development), "Prosperity will start from rice growers", Mr. Le Thanh Tung - Vice President of Vietnam Rice Industry Association - entrusted and assigned responsibilities, including the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice in the Mekong Delta by 2030, the core of which is the connection between farmers and businesses in the rice industry chain.
"Although we have not seen a complete rice industry, the activities of rice enterprises in Dong Thap create a premise for a more solid development of the industry in the future. Another important thing is that to have a brand, there must be a connection, and without a connection, it will forever be just "buying at the beginning of the market, selling at the end of the market"," said Mr. Tung.
This is the 5th year VinaRice has operated in Dong Thap with a factory with a processing capacity of 50,000 tons of seeds and 100,000 tons of rice/year. The Seed and Agricultural Products Processing Industrial Center has just been approved to invest in an area of 1.1 hectares belonging to Vietnam Rice Company Limited, Truong Xuan Industrial Cluster, Thap Muoi District.
