At 8:28 p.m. on December 13, Unit 2 of the Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion project was officially successfully connected to the grid, completing 18 days ahead of schedule.
The Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, invested by Vietnam Electricity Group, is a national key project, and construction has been underway since mid-2021. The Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project has a designed capacity of 360MW, consisting of 2 units, and Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has assigned the Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2) as the investor representative. Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 is the consulting unit for the project design in each phase.
The project was implemented in a difficult context such as: the COVID-19 outbreak, high material prices due to the impact of political conflicts in the world, slow site handover procedures...
With the attention and close direction of Vietnam Electricity Group, the great efforts of EVNPMB2 and the close coordination of EVN's professional departments, Ialy Hydropower Company and consulting units, construction contractors, equipment suppliers, the project has been organized and implemented with many creative construction solutions.
In particular, the most prominent is the plan to simultaneously combine the rotors of unit 1 and unit 2, arrange the site to deploy 2 units in parallel, organize 3 shifts a day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. This is considered the key to speeding up the progress of generating electricity for unit 2 right after generating electricity for unit 1, 18 days ahead of schedule and shortening the progress by about 3 months compared to normal.
When put into operation, the project will increase the power generation capacity of the national power system, especially during peak hours; contribute to enhancing the economic operation of the entire system; make optimal use of the water source's capacity, increasing the average annual power generation output by about 233 million kWh/year.
The project also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions; reducing the intensity and operating time of existing generators, thereby extending the life of equipment and saving maintenance and repair costs.
Previously, on November 26, Unit 1 of the Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion project was successfully connected to the national grid. The successful connection of Unit 2 18 days early is the result of the continuous efforts of EVNPMB2 and related units, aiming to practically establish achievements to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2024).
