Reading the book Resolutely and persistently fighting against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, I appreciated the article "Strengthening Party building - An important factor in building a rule-of-law state and a socialist-oriented market economy " (published in the Legislative Research Journal, March 2008 issue) because it explained and pointed out the underlying cause of the situation of cadres and party members who violate the law and are disciplined. That is individualism, the cadres and party members cannot overcome the temptations and benefits that are happening before their eyes.
The socialist-oriented market economy requires each Party Committee, each cadre and Party member to be proactive, creative, know how to think economically, dare to think and act for the common development, for the people's lives, while still maintaining integrity. But in reality, there are many times when cadres and Party members cannot maintain integrity and have fallen because they cannot overcome themselves in the ideological struggle.
The General Secretary pointed out situations such as: In the current conditions, our cadres and party members go on business trips abroad everywhere, who manages them, who knows? Who knows about transactions with foreign countries, how can we avoid being bribed? In basic construction, in purchasing, there are so many things like spreads, commas, percentages, unwritten things...
So how to avoid falling? What to do to overcome temptations in daily work? Answering that question, also in the article, the General Secretary emphasized the solution of enhancing the fighting spirit of grassroots party organizations and party cadres and members.
Specifically, fighting against stagnation and lack of development; fighting against wrongdoing; fighting against oneself to overcome manifestations of individualism; fighting against the plots and sabotage tricks of hostile forces.
Not only individual cadres and party members must fight, but the whole organization must also improve its fighting spirit. Regarding this issue, the General Secretary raised the question: We have talked a lot about fighting corruption, but how many party cells have discovered it?
In the year-end vote, most party members met the criteria and the party cell was clean and strong, but there were many denunciations and corruption. What does that mean? It means that the fighting spirit of the grassroots party organization is not high or is declining.
The General Secretary pointed that out and said: Contact each party cell, each person to see if the fighting spirit is sufficient. Talking about self-criticism and criticism but still praising each other is the main thing, not looking straight at the truth, also being cautious, respectful with hundreds of reasons, especially fear of being persecuted, so just keep wavering like that, right not defending, wrong not daring to fight, "even the seventh official also agrees, even the fourth official also nods". Mediocrity does not rise up, it is lacking fighting spirit.
The views of the General Secretary in the article raise many profound issues in the current context, when our country is increasingly integrating deeply into the international economy. Through the cases of corruption and negativity that have been exposed, investigated and handled, it shows that the struggle against individualism in each person is extremely difficult.
In addition to improving the combativeness of grassroots party organizations with increasingly strict and drastic monitoring mechanisms, daring to fight against oneself should also be considered an important measure. Therefore, I am more convinced by the article that each person must constantly raise awareness, self-reflection, self-correction, self-cultivation, training, and fight against oneself to maintain integrity. This is a fundamental solution that contributes to pushing back corruption and negativity.
