DANAFF III encourages new talents of Vietnamese and Asia-Pacific cinema

On the evening of June 29, at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang, the Vietnam Association for Cinema Promotion and Development, the People's Committee of Da Nang City coordinated with relevant units to organize the opening ceremony of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025 (DANAFF III).

Professor-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang - Member of the Politburo , Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council participated and directed the Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an important event that continues to demonstrate Vietnam's strong commitment to respecting cultural diversity, promoting the cultural industry, entertainment industry, enhancing exchange, understanding and cooperation between cinemas in the region and the world .

Professor-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciates the initiative of the People's Committee of Da Nang City and the Vietnam Association for the Promotion and Development of Cinema in organizing the annual Da Nang Asian Film Festival, which is the third time, to affirm the role of a regional cinema event with rich identity and increasingly professional.

This festival is especially held in the year Vietnam celebrates many historical milestones, including the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country.

In particular, among many attractive events of the Film Festival, the program “Half a century of Vietnamese films about war” with 22 typical films about revolutionary war not only has high artistic value but is also a vivid document about the history and aspiration for independence and peace of the Vietnamese people.

Professor-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang was impressed with the increasingly professional organization of DANAFF with rich content, expanded scale, diverse award categories and increasingly affirmed and honored artistic values.

Notably, the Festival model, organized in the form of effective socialization, has contributed to promoting social resources to connect creative, production, management and business entities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an affirmation of Da Nang's development orientation to become a new center of cultural creativity and film industry in Vietnam and the region.

“We believe that cinema is not only an art, but also a driving force for economic development, a means of promoting the city's image, a bridge between people, a place to nurture and spread the values of truth, goodness and beauty.

Da Nang City will continue to promote investment, support and create the most favorable conditions for DANAFF to develop sustainably, professionally and with its own identity,” said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.

The 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025 with the theme "DANAFF - Asian Bridge" takes place from June 29 to July 5 with the aim of selecting and honoring excellent cinematographic works, rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries, unique artistic expression; connecting and encouraging new talents of Vietnamese cinema and the Asia-Pacific region.

At the same time, widely introduced to the public new cinematographic works with high content and artistic value from Asia and Vietnam; thereby promoting the sustainable development of the young generation of filmmakers, contributing to promoting the image of Da Nang city as a creative, cultural and high-class tourism center in the region.

In 2025, DANAFF III will have a new breakthrough in terms of scale, organizational time and program content with many new highlights such as: Half a century of Vietnamese war films program; Korean cinema spotlight program; Project incubator; especially notable is the birth of the program "Asian Cinema Panorama" selecting excellent and successful Asian cinema works at international film festivals in the past year, along with films choosing DANAFF for the first screening and the appearance of the "Asian Film Critics Award."

With its scale, professionalism and high professional quality, DANAFF III will bring outstanding works, promote learning and professional exchange. DANAFF III is not only a Film Festival but also a journey connecting Asia-Pacific cinema, honoring rich works in humanity, unique art and new talents of the regional cinema.

At the same time, the event also contributes to promoting the image of Da Nang as a modern center of creativity, culture and tourism, connecting internationally through the language of cinema./.
