I know that “birth, aging, sickness, death” is the law of nature and I also know that she had to go through a very resilient fight against a serious illness. But the news of her passing still shocked me and I did not want to believe it was true, because she still had a lot of passion and many ideas to contribute to the diplomatic sector and to women’s work and gender equality… There are still many activities that hope to have her presence!
Remembering her is remembering the image of a talented female diplomat, with a professional, modern style and strong appeal. She is the convergence of the most quintessential qualities of a diplomat : courage, intelligence, decisiveness, flexibility and suppleness. In any field (bilateral diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, women's work...), she is always a pioneer, bringing out breakthrough strategic ideas that make important contributions to the overall foreign affairs work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I was fortunate to work with her at the Southeast Asia - South Asia - South Pacific Department when I first joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At that time, she enthusiastically guided me and other young people in basic skills such as information mining, news synthesis, making a report, writing a summary report, a thematic report, etc. She did every job very professionally, scientifically and effectively. We learned a lot from her.
I also worked closely with her in the Ministry's women's work and gender equality when she was Deputy Head of the Department for the Advancement of Women and I was Head of the Ministry's Women's Department. The two sisters worked together on many ideas and later brought about many positive results. That was to elevate women's work to serve the Ministry's general foreign affairs work.
Many foreign affairs frameworks undertaken by the Women's Committee under the initiative of Ms. Nguyet Nga have been born and have promoted very positive effects such as: ASEAN Women Diplomats Community; Exchange between the Vietnamese Foreign Minister's Wife and the Foreign Minister's Wife of two neighboring countries, Laos and China; Network of female Ambassadors and female leaders of units in the Ministry...
All of these channels of activity are being implemented well and effectively, making important contributions to the Ministry's overall foreign affairs cooperation and are highly appreciated by the Diplomatic Corps. She is also very passionate about gender equality and women's advancement, and is an important contributor to training and building a team of high-quality female managers in the Ministry.
Ms. Nguyet Nga is not only a female leader who is good at her profession but she is also a very thoughtful leader. She always cares about the family background of each staff member so that she can encourage and help when necessary. For many of us, she is truly like Ms. Thanh Tam, a place where we can share and ask for advice on work and personal issues.
She herself is always open to sharing experiences in very ordinary life such as: housework, childcare, family, health, fashion... She is always a role model of style for me and my female colleagues to follow. There are really too many memories that I have shared with her in difficult, hard but very happy and worthwhile jobs.
Remembering her is remembering a talented, sharp leader; a sincere, warm sister who is always sympathetic and compassionate. We are grateful for her heart and enthusiasm for the female diplomatic staff. Her passing leaves endless regret for her family, friends and us, her beloved colleagues.
Dear Nguyet Nga, farewell and may you rest in peace!
