In particular, ID.VN is for individuals who are Vietnamese citizens to register to use to promote images, products, personal brands on the network environment through websites, online CVs, blogs, etc.; IO.VN is for organizations and individuals to register to use for digital technology applications, platforms, and services on the network environment; and AI.VN is for organizations and individuals to register to use for activities and services related to the field of artificial intelligence.
Also from the beginning of June, Circular 20 dated April 13, 2023 of the Ministry of Finance on the schedule of fees and charges for Internet resources will take effect. The highlight of this new Circular is the preferential policy on fees and charges in registering and using domain names to facilitate and encourage people and businesses to exploit the values of using .VN domain names associated with digital services such as websites, e-commerce, blogs, emails, etc. Thereby, contributing to promoting the development of the digital economy and digital society.
VNNIC representative said that according to Circular 20, the registration fee for most .VN national domain names has been adjusted down from 50 - 91.6%, the maintenance fee for .VN domain names for some domain name extensions has been reduced from 30 - 33%. These incentives are adjusted appropriately, ensuring wide coverage of users. Businesses and people can easily access and own national domain names for practical applications such as business, opening online stores, building brands, etc.
"From policies promoting the use of national domain names in particular and domestic online services in general will be developed, people and businesses will have a safe tool and solution to use on the Internet environment at low cost" , VNNIC representative shared.
Circular 20 also stipulates that when registering the ID.VN and BIZ.VN domain names, people and businesses will be entitled to special preferential policies. Accordingly, from June 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025, Vietnamese citizens aged 18 to 23 who register to use the ID.VN domain name and newly established businesses within 1 year from the date of domain name registration, business households with a certificate of registration to register the BIZ.VN domain name will be exempted from paying fees for 2 years from the date the domain name is granted. The above priority subjects will only have to pay fees from the 3rd year from the date the domain name is granted.
In the new information updated on June 19, VNNIC said that the new domain name space policy serving digital transformation has met the needs of people and businesses. According to statistics, after 19 days, registrars have issued over 4,600 domain names with new domain extensions AI.VN, IO.VN and ID.VN, accounting for about 36% of newly issued domain names in 1 month.
Notably, VNNIC data has recorded the trend of building personal brands on the Internet. Specifically, immediately after the new domain name ID.VN was opened, nearly 2,000 people registered and currently the number of new domain names granted to people is 3,100.
Aiming to encourage young people, newly established businesses, and business households to register and use .VN domain names to participate in the development of the digital economy and digital society, it is expected that on June 24, VNNIC and domain name registrars will officially launch the program "Initializing digital identification with .VN domain names". With this program, in addition to being exempted from registration fees and maintenance fees for ID.VN and BIZ.VN domain names for 2 years, young people and newly established businesses will also receive free support from registrars to create CVs, build websites, emails, etc.
One activity of the program "Initializing digital identification and .VN domain name" is to set up a booth at Hoan Kiem Lake walking street on weekends to organize free provision of ID.VN and BIZ.VN domain names and accompanying services for preferential subjects.
