Happy and proud
On July 1, when everyone was rejoicing in the joy of merging Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang's family in Viet Hoa ward (formerly Viet Hoa ward, Hai Duong city) welcomed their fourth member, a cute baby girl. Because his first child was a boy, when he learned that his wife was pregnant with a girl, Mr. Thang was very excited because the family had "both boys and girls". He eagerly searched for good and meaningful names to name his daughter. Because the baby's mother's name was Mai, Mr. Thang prioritized names that rhymed with her mother's. However, in the end, he decided to name his daughter Anh Duong to commemorate the memorable event of Hai Phong city merging with Hai Duong province.
Happiness and pride were the feelings of Ms. Pham Thanh Hai's family in Nguyen Dai Nang ward (formerly Hien Thanh ward, Kinh Mon town) when the doctor and nurse handed over the birth certificate of their newborn daughter with the new address of Hai Phong city. Ms. Hai said that according to the expected date of birth, she would welcome the baby at the end of June, but on July 1, the baby cried out at birth. Therefore, she believes that it was fate. She emotionally said: “In the days before giving birth, I had time to rest so I often followed the news on newspapers and social networks. Previously, Hai Phong city bordered Kinh Mon town, so for every Kinh Mon resident, this place name was very familiar. Therefore, the merger made me very excited and expectant. What was even more surprising for my family was that the baby that the whole family had been waiting for was born on the day of the merger. The whole family was overwhelmed with emotion. My husband and I agreed to name our child Kim Ngan, the same name as the only former female Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Hai Duong, as a tribute to our hometown, hoping that in the future she will be as talented as that.”

High expectations
The moment every child is born is a sacred moment, containing the expectations and beliefs of the family and the wider society. That is even more meaningful for children born at a time associated with a major, important event of the country.
Although still in pain from the surgery, Ms. Dang Thuy Linh, in Thach Khoi ward (formerly Gia Xuyen commune, Hai Duong city) was still happy when her first son was born on the happy day of unification. She believes that the place name may change but the place of birth is still there, not lost but also enriched by love and solidarity. And what Ms. Linh hopes most is that her child will grow up in a good society, enjoying the fruits of unification. "Later, when my child is knowledgeable enough, I will tell him about the moment he was born. That was a moment of happiness for the family combined with a historical moment for the homeland and country. Therefore, the birth of a child is an honor, so we must always be proud and strive to become a good citizen, useful to the community," Ms. Linh shared.
Although still doing her daily professional work, in recent days, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong Huyen, Head Nurse of the Planning and Command Department (Hai Duong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital) has been busier and more bustling. In addition to taking care of, encouraging, and congratulating the pregnant family on welcoming a new member, Ms. Huyen also checked and compared information about the new ward and commune to certify the birth of the babies. Babies born from July 1 will be associated with the new hometown name. Ms. Huyen said: "In the process of comparing and matching information, there are still unfamiliar ward and commune names, so we carefully looked up and researched to make the correct birth certificate for the citizens of the new city.
After the merger, the new Hai Phong city will have a population of more than 4.6 million people. Along with that, the citizens born after the merger will carry the pride of the new city to build a rich, civilized locality, a dynamic development pole of the whole country.
