Announcing the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Symbol

On the afternoon of September 24, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai chaired the announcement ceremony of the "City Friendship Symbol". Also attending were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and Mayors and Deputy Mayors of international localities.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders and mayors and deputy mayors of 58 international localities took souvenir photos at the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Symbol.

Speaking at the logo announcement ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan shared that this is an extremely meaningful event, marking the close cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and localities and international partners. The international friendship symbol is not only a work of art, but also a vivid symbol of the spirit of friendship, solidarity and long-term cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 58 localities around the world . The idea of the symbol comes from the desire for international friends to feel closeness, respect and pride when setting foot in the city.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan shared that the symbol marks the close cooperative relationship between the city and localities and international partners.

The most prominent part of the logo is the Mobius circle - a symbol of infinity, representing continuous, sustainable and endless development. This is the gateway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the world and vice versa. With advanced 3D Mapping technology and water membrane, the Mobius circle is not only a symbol of connection, but also a means to display cultural and artistic images, to introduce the beauty and hospitality of Ho Chi Minh City to international friends.

Located at Bach Dang Wharf Park - a peaceful space in the heart of the city - the symbol will be a vivid demonstration of Ho Chi Minh City's vision in elevating foreign affairs, while sending international friends a message of welcome, openness and aspiration to reach out to the world, together building a peaceful and prosperous future.

Ms. Gabriele Goldfuss - Director of the Leipzig City Foreign Office is delighted with the symbol bearing the name of her locality.

After the ceremony, delegates walked around the city and enjoyed Vietnamese egg coffee. The announcement ceremony of the friendship symbol is one of many activities in the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue program - 2024.
