Bringing Ba Be Lake tourism to a new era |
Patrolling special-use forests is always given attention by the Forest Rangers and the people assigned to the work. |
Promote leadership role in implementing key tasks
Right from the beginning of the year, the Ba Be National Park Management Board proactively developed an Action Program to carry out the tasks in 2025, assigning specific targets and tasks to the departments and affiliated units. At the same time, it launched an emulation movement, organized propaganda and disseminated the law to the community living in the core and buffer zones. Inspection and supervision work was carried out regularly, ensuring the schedule.
With the role of protecting more than 9,400 hectares of special-use forests, since the beginning of the year, the unit has organized 22 propaganda sessions in 16 villages, attracting more than 1,400 people to participate. The content focuses on raising legal awareness of forest management, forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR), mobilizing people to denounce violations; managing and legally using chainsaws...
Forest patrol activities were carried out seriously with more than 360 rounds, over 1,170 participants; 58 ambushes were organized, and 2 major raids were carried out.
Coordination with local authorities has been strengthened; many cases of encroachment on forest land and illegal construction have been promptly prevented. Forest rangers are on duty 24/7 at hot spots to help detect forest fires early and control the situation effectively.
However, the unit still recorded 8 violations of the Forestry Law (an increase compared to the same period; including illegal exploitation, transportation of forest products, illegal forest burning, etc.).
Mr. Trieu The Khoi, Director of Ba Be National Park Management Board. |
Mr. Trieu The Khoi, Director of Ba Be National Park Management Board, shared: To effectively carry out the assigned tasks, the unit has assigned specific tasks to each specialized department, increased surprise inspections at the scene... Cases of encroachment on forest land, illegal logging or illegal construction in the core zone are all handled promptly, demonstrating a spirit of determination and no avoidance.
Strengthening biodiversity conservation associated with research
The Ba Be National Park Management Board continues to conduct a grassroots research project on the nghien tree (a precious wood species endemic to the northern mountainous region). The areas under care for nghien and trai ly trees both have a high survival rate, suitable for growing conditions. The unit also counts 51 plant species and coordinates the attachment of QR codes to identify the trees, making it easier to access biological information.
Using digital satellite devices to manage and monitor forest resources. |
Notably, conservation, ecotourism, and sustainable economic development projects in core and buffer zones have not only contributed to improving people's livelihoods, but also served as models for community development associated with conservation.
The Ba Be National Park Management Board also actively implements environmentaleducation programs. Among them, activities such as “Exchanging recyclable waste for gifts” attract a large number of local women’s union members and youth union members to participate, contributing to building a green lifestyle in the community.
In particular, the VR360 virtual reality tourism system has been put into operation, replacing the old information page, providing vivid images of Ba Be landscape to domestic and foreign tourists.
Completing the logo and preparing to register the National Park trademark is also a professional step in promoting the local ecological brand. Regarding forest environmental services, the unit conducts surveys of potential tourist routes and signs forest environment lease contracts with organizations and individuals.
Actively coordinate with local authorities to organize cleaning of Ba Be Lake area. |
Implementing the policy of investing in the development of special-use forests according to Decree No. 58/2024/ND-CP dated May 24, 2024 of the Government, Ba Be National Park Management Board has coordinated with 42 villages in the core and buffer zones in the locality to identify support needs.
Of these, 21 villages built concrete roads, 15 villages connected to the national grid, the rest built embankments, irrigation ditches, village meeting houses, etc. to support production development for the people. The total support budget is 2.1 billion VND (50 million VND/village). Up to now, 9 villages have had their budgets approved, the remaining items are being implemented according to plan.
In addition, the unit also focuses on implementing digital transformation and management modernization tasks, including promoting the application of software for managing documents and human resource data; at the same time, completing procedures for organizational structure according to new regulations.
Coordination with units such as the Commune People's Committee and the Land Office in boundary demarcation, site clearance, and handling of land violations... has also been implemented synchronously and effectively.
In addition to the results, the unit still has difficulties and challenges such as: Scientific research and conservation of precious flora and fauna are still limited due to lack of specialized human resources. Violations of encroachment on special-use forest land still occur in some places, due to increased demand for residential land, lack of synchronous planning, and low public awareness.
In addition, the implementation of tourism projects on special-use forest land is difficult due to complicated legal procedures and lack of clear direction on infrastructure construction in core areas.
In the coming time, the Ba Be National Park Management Board will continue to set out a number of key tasks to implement, such as: Continuing to further strengthen forest patrol and control, minimizing violations of the Forestry Law. Strengthening the dissemination of laws on forest protection, raising community awareness.
Actively coordinate with competent authorities to complete documents, effectively implement the Ecotourism Project, select investors to lease forest environment. Coordinate to resolve complaints from people, clearly demarcate land boundaries between managed areas. Train and improve capacity for staff, promote digital transformation...
