Ms. Dao Thi Le Hoa, President of the Women's Association of Truong Dong B Hamlet, Phong Dien Commune (left cover) visits members' lives.
In 1993, Ms. Hoa joined the association as the Head of the Women's Association of Truong Dong B hamlet. At that time, the association only had 32 members; the poverty rate among the women was still quite high. Ms. Hoa was not afraid of difficulties, going to every alley, knocking on every door to encourage and motivate women to participate in association activities. With the characteristics of a purely agricultural area, Ms. Hoa devoted much effort to supporting women's associations to develop the economy through initiating and establishing many effective care models and activities.
In 2020, Ms. Hoa proposed that the Commune Women's Union organize 2 weaving and 2 household sewing classes, attracting more than 120 students and women to participate. Thanks to these classes, many women now have stable jobs at companies and factories or are flexible in receiving processed goods, earning extra income in their spare time.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Giang in Truong Dong B hamlet confided: “Previously, I only knew a little about sewing. When I heard that the hamlet’s CHPN opened a class teaching sewing on industrial machines, I signed up to participate. After finishing the course, I bought a sewing machine and found a supplier to receive the processed goods. At work, I am always careful to create quality products and deliver on time, so the quantity of processed goods is quite stable. Every day, taking advantage of my free time, I sew about 150-200 products, mainly t-shirts, uniforms, blouses... in stages.”
Along with vocational training support, Ms. Hoa is interested in helping HV and PN access preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank to invest in economic development. Currently, the hamlet CHPN is managing 2 savings and loan groups from the Social Policy Bank with 107 participating members, with a total outstanding loan balance of over 6 billion VND. Ms. Hoa is interested in researching and mastering the bank's business processes; ensuring loans to the right subjects; regularly monitoring and guiding borrowers to use capital for the right purposes and effectively. Thanks to that, for many years, the savings and loan groups have had no overdue debt.
From 2020 to now, on holidays and Tet, Ms. Hoa has coordinated to mobilize gifts and rice for members and women in difficult circumstances; donated books and school supplies to members' children; supported the construction of 7 charity homes for members; cared for families with children recruited for military service... Currently, the hamlet CHPN has no members and women in poor households, and the material life of the women is constantly improving.
As one of the members of the CHPN Hamlet who received support from the CHPN Hamlet to donate a charity house in 2023, Ms. Cao Thi Cung shared: “Previously, my family was a poor household. As a single, elderly woman, I worked for hire all year round to make a living, so I did not have the conditions to repair the house. Thanks to the help of the CHPN Hamlet and the Commune Women's Union, I was supported with 50 million VND to build a new house. Every month, the CHPN Hamlet visits me, gives me rice and helps me in many aspects of life.”
After more than 30 years of working for the association, at the age of 65, every day, Ms. Hoa still rides her bike to each house of the Association to propagate and mobilize the implementation of the Party's policies and the State's laws, actively participating in movements launched by the Association at all levels and localities.
Ms. Hoa shared: “Participating in the association’s work helps me feel that life has more joy and meaning.” Despite her old age, she still strives to learn and apply information technology to association activities; actively initiates and establishes many effective and practical models, such as the “Happy Family” club, “Building a family of 5 no’s, 3 clean’s”… to help women progress and build happy families.
Ms. Huynh Thi Quynh Dao, Vice President of the Phong Dien Commune Women's Union, commented: "Ms. Dao Thi Le Hoa is an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly responsible branch president, always exemplary in developing the women's union movement. At the same time, she is also a shining example in developing family economy, building happy families, creating trust among union members and women."
