Chau Phong breaks through after merger

Chau Phong commune was established on the basis of merging the three old communes of Phu Vinh, Le Chanh and Chau Phong, with a natural area of over 49km2 and a population of over 56,000 people. After the merger, the commune stabilized its organization, synchronized the socio -economic development plans of the three old localities, and identified the potential and advantages of the new locality to develop the socio-economy. Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Phong commune Nguyen Van Minh said: "The consensus of the people and the sense of responsibility of cadres and civil servants are important foundations for Chau Phong to break through and rise up".

In the first 6 months of the year, the commune's seeding area reached more than 8,100 hectares, of which rice accounted for 86%. The winter-spring crop yield reached 7.5 - 8 tons/ha, with an output of more than 54,200 tons. The model of growing high-quality, low-emission rice within the framework of the 1 million hectare rice project has brought about efficiency, opening a new direction for green, sustainable agriculture. Along with rice, the commune has deployed 18 models applying high technology in agriculture, including greenhouses, net houses, automatic irrigation, and humidity sensors in fruit tree cultivation. Thanks to that, labor is reduced, productivity is increased, and climate change is better adapted.

Chau Phong Commune Party Secretary Nguyen Thanh Lam affirmed: “We identify agriculture as a pillar, but it must be modern agriculture, linked to the chain, and linked to the market. Chau Phong expands the cultivation of high-quality rice, develops fruit trees that meet VietGAP standards; at the same time, upgrades typical products such as tung lo mo and ornamental flowers to increase economic value.”

Not only agriculture, the commune's non-agricultural sector is also developing rapidly. The commune has more than 1,000 individual businesses, 35 enterprises, 122 small-scale handicraft establishments, creating jobs for nearly 2,000 workers. Industries and occupations such as brocade weaving, carpentry, food processing, etc. bring stable income to thousands of households. In the first 6 months of 2025, the commune welcomed more than 1,000 tourists to visit, experience craft villages, and learn about Cham culture.

Up to 3 breakthroughs

The 1st Congress of Chau Phong Commune Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030 identified 3 breakthroughs for development including: Restructuring agricultural production towards high technology, sustainable development. Developing trade, services and tourism, increasing the proportion of non-agricultural sector, creating jobs, diversifying income for people, especially Cham people. Promoting the application of science , technology, innovation and digital transformation in state agencies, enterprises and the private sector, improving the efficiency of governance, management and public services.

After the congress, the commune put the Public Administration Service Center into operation. In a short time, it received nearly 1,400 records, with 95% of the procedures digitized and resolved on time. Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, residing in Vinh Loi 1 hamlet, shared: "I only needed to come once to get my child's birth certificate. The staff guided me enthusiastically and thoughtfully, I was very happy."

According to Vice Chairman of Chau Phong Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Hop, the locality promotes the application of technology in production management, healthcare, and education; encourages businesses and business households to apply e-commerce, gradually forming a digital ecosystem to serve long-term development.

In order for Chau Phong to continue to make breakthroughs after the merger, the commune has set out the main tasks to successfully implement 3 breakthroughs such as: Continuing to invest in agricultural infrastructure, especially transportation and irrigation in the fields; developing safe biological livestock farming, high-value aquaculture; building cooperatives linking production with consumption and eco-tourism. In the field of trade and services, the commune upgrades market infrastructure, tourist piers, encourages the development of OCOP products, traditional craft villages; creates clean land to form Chau Phong industrial cluster.

Agreeing with the local solutions proposed in implementing the 3 strategic breakthroughs, bringing Chau Phong to development, comrade Lam Minh Thanh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee noted: “Chau Phong after the merger has a large scale and abundant potential. The important thing is that the locality must know how to arouse internal strength, promote strengths in high-quality agriculture, combine services and tourism; at the same time, take the lead in digital transformation to improve the quality of service to the people. This is the foundation for Chau Phong to develop quickly, sustainably and become a bright spot in the upstream area of the Tien River”.

In the coming time, to successfully implement the 3 breakthroughs, Chau Phong commune has proposed solutions such as continuing administrative reform, mobilizing resources for infrastructure investment, improving the quality of education and training, and linking economic development with culture and society. With the above solutions, Chau Phong commune will continue to become a bright spot in socio-economic development in the upstream area of Tien River.
