Hello Show honors the quintessence of Vietnamese music , contributing to the preservation of unique traditional musical instruments. |
This is the first time there is a contemporary folk music program using a massive collection of up to 30 Vietnamese folk instruments performed every night from Tuesday to Sunday at the concert hall No. 6 - Nguyen Sieu, Saigon ward ( Ho Chi Minh City).
Performance of 30 traditional musical instruments
Although it has only been around for a short time, Chao Show, directed by Tat My Loan, has made its own mark and attracted domestic audiences who love traditional art as well as many international tourists visiting Vietnam. The program lasts 90 minutes, including 12 musical chapters in a suite called Giang Son Cam Tu, composed by musician Tran Manh Hung.
Chao Show (English: Chao Show) originates from the phrase "Hello" with the mission of connecting cultural values through music, images and cuisine . |
By telling stories through images, 3D sound technology and using 30 unique traditional musical instruments, Chao Show takes the audience on a journey to discover the music that is characteristic of the folk spirit of regions from North to South, connected by the fact that "any homeland's sky is the sky of the Fatherland".
Each performance has a unique cultural nuance such as the elegant and ancient Northern melodies through the opening music chapters, such as: White Cloud Pass, Spring Flower Valley, Thang Long Pho Hoi ... The Central region has a profound and lyrical quality with the music chapters: Downstream of the Perfume River, Hai Van Quan, Cham Dance, Majestic Bazan ... The South has a liberal and cheerful melody from the chapters: Rainforest Waterfall, Moon Boat, Saigon Night Street .
Mr. Nguyen Khac Anh, representative of the producer of the program Chao Show , said: “To help the audience enjoy and deeply feel the beauty of diverse and multi-dimensional Vietnamese culture, Chao Show collects many traditional musical instruments originally crafted by artisans such as: Dan Day, Dan Bau, Dan Tranh, Dan Da, T'rung, gongs, bamboo flutes, leaf horns, Chinh kram (bamboo gong - a traditional musical instrument of the Ede people), Dan Sen Nam Bo (a 17-key plucked string instrument used in the amateur Cai Luong orchestra)...”.

Traditional feeling, modern flame
Chao Show brings together a rotating cast of 16 artists, each artist knows how to play 8-10 traditional musical instruments with a style that is true to the spirit of each region of Vietnam.
Artist Cao Ho Nga has been attached to traditional music since childhood, has toured in nearly 20 countries, and happily said that this is the first time she "performed a program using only traditional musical instruments".
Artist Kim Hong shared that she has been attached to the sound of the moon lute for a long time, but was very interested and excited to have the opportunity to play many other traditional instruments such as the sen lute, dan day... in Chao Show . Meanwhile, Gen Z artist Ho Thao Linh - a second-year student at the Faculty of Traditional Music at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, knows how to play 8 folk instruments, blending "traditional emotions and modern excitement".
For Thao Linh, traditional musical instruments have the power to tell stories and are the soul of national culture, a material that can be combined with many different music genres, creating unique musical colors that can completely conquer the hearts of young audiences who are eager to learn and full of emotions like Gen Z.
