Accordingly, the lives of households in Quang Am Residential Group are currently facing difficulties due to the rising flood on Chau River. Mr. Pham Duc Vien's household in An Ninh residential area is located more than 50 m from the riverbed, the river water rose up to the yard more than 30 cm. The entire ancillary works (kitchen, toilet, etc.) of the family were flooded. The cow barn was also flooded and had to be tied up above the dike. The straw used as food for cows also had to be placed higher than 50 cm to avoid water. Mr. Vien shared: His family has lived here for more than 40 years (since 1984). Almost every year, the house is flooded at least 1-2 times due to rising flood water on the river, especially in September 2024, the water flooded the house nearly 1m deep and had to be temporarily moved up to the dike. Each time the flood water comes, it greatly affects the family's daily life...
Like Mr. Vien, families living in the flooded area along the Chau River of Quang Am Residential Group are currently having to deal with flood water. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dua's household in Tien Thanh residential area, located right next to the river, has two elderly members. The road from the dike is more than 100 m and is very low. During this flood, the water level rose more than 50 cm, almost cutting off the outside, making travel very difficult. Mrs. Dua said: The family is in the relocation area to build a bridge over the Chau River when the State takes it over, they will move. I hope the State will create better conditions for new housing so that we will no longer be flooded like now.
It is known that during the flood periods on the Chau River, the local authorities always direct the Residential Group to announce on the loudspeaker system and send cadres to each hamlet to propagate so that people can proactively raise their assets and pay attention to the electrical system in their homes. When the flood on the river rises too high, people and assets will be evacuated to a safe place. The locality also develops a plan to respond to natural disasters to proactively mobilize forces and means to serve the prevention and control work... Discussing the conditions for responding to flood water on the Chau River causing flooding in the area, Mr. Pham Duc Thap, Party cell secretary, Head of the Quang Am Residential Group said: Every time the Chau River floods, the daily life of people in the residential group faces many difficulties. The Residential Group organizes inspections, helps and supports households that need to be evacuated. We hope that the flooding situation will end soon to help ensure the daily life and production of the people...
In the area outside the dyke of Quang Am Residential Group, there are 140 households that are subject to relocation to resettlement areas to implement the Bac Chau Giang Ecological Urban Area project. This is the direction for people's lives to escape the flood zone. Mr. Trinh Minh Duc, Chairman of Ha Nam Ward People's Committee said: Every time there is a flood on Chau River, it causes flooding for residential areas in Quang Am Residential Group. The immediate solution is that the locality synchronously implements prevention measures, including moving people and property to safe places... In the long term, some residential areas of Quang Am Residential Group are subject to relocation to implement approved projects. Households are arranged in resettlement areas with synchronous investment in infrastructure, electricity, and domestic water. When living in the resettlement area, people will certainly have a better life. The ward is actively promoting and mobilizing people to agree to live in the most convenient resettlement area... This is a fundamental solution so that people no longer have to suffer from flooding every time the flood on Chau River rises.
In reality, the residential areas outside the Chau River dike in Quang Am Residential Group have low ground levels and narrow roads, making it impossible to renovate them synchronously to prevent floods. Along with immediate solutions, long-term solutions will help solve the flooding problem and improve the quality of life for local people.
