Among the thousands of years old ancient villages in Dong Van, Lao Xa and Lo Lo Chai are the two most well-known villages.
From working in the fields, living on the rocks… the local people have gradually started doing tourism. Children born on the rocks, growing up on the rocks… who go far away from home to study also return to do homestay in the village.
In Lao Xa, no tourist does not know the 70-year-old ancient house of Vu Mi Hong's family - a young man determined to return to his homeland to spread the traditional culture of the Mong people.
Mr. Hong was the first person to open a homestay in the village called Lao Xa ancient house. It is a rammed earth house with a yin-yang tiled roof, surrounded by a stone wall typical of the Mong people in Ha Giang.

After graduating from university, the Mong man returned to his village and turned to tourism. Finding solutions to difficulties, Mr. Hong taught himself English and how to welcome guests… with the sole desire to bring the beauty of his people, such as the Khen and the flute, to tourists from near and far.
Young people like Mr. Hong are changing the way tourism is done in the rocky plateau every day, both doing tourism and preserving the cultural soul of their people.
