Vietnamese football aims to participate in World Cup 2034

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just approved the Project on developing Vietnamese football until 2030, with a vision to 2045 (referred to as the project) with many important contents, notably the goal of men's football participating in the 2034 World Cup.

According to this project, football development is part of the general strategy of the sports industry and is an important task in the country's socio-economic policy. The goals, tasks, and policies for football development must be placed in an overall relationship with the general development guidelines, strategies, and socio-economic development orientations of the country and of each industry and locality.

Developing sustainable football, based on a widespread movement; investing in key areas and applying achievements in science , technology, and modern sports medicine in selecting, training, and nurturing sports talents. In addition, combining the use of state resources and social resources in developing high-performance football; in which the state plays a leading role in building technical infrastructure, combined with expanding socialization methods, attracting investment, and the participation of the whole society in developing the football career.

The project includes goals and targets for 2030, of which the goals for 2030 include: Innovating and perfecting the system of selecting and training football talents; linking training of the next generation of athletes to create resources for professional football clubs and national football teams; developing our country's football to become one of the football centers of the region and continent; by 2030, being in the top 10 countries with the most developed football in Asia...

Men's football strives to win gold medals at SEA Games 34 and 35; reach quarter-finals of ASIAD 2030

The project also sets targets for 2030, including: For men's football, strive to win a medal at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025; win a gold medal at the 34th SEA Games in 2027 and a gold medal at the 35th SEA Games in 2029.

In women's football, strive to win gold medals at the 2025, 2027 and 2029 SEA Games. In the ASIAD arena, men's football strives to pass the group stage of the 2026 ASIAD; strives to reach the quarter-finals of the 2030 ASIAD. And in the 2031 Asian Cup, strives to reach the quarter-finals. In women's football, strives to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 ASIAD and 2030 ASIAD; strives to pass the group stage of the 2026 Asian Cup and reach the quarter-finals of the 2030 Asian Cup.

Regarding the goals of the Olympics and World Cup 2030, 2034, men's football strives to reach the 3rd qualifying round of the World Cup 2030, strives to win the right to participate in the World Cup 2034; wins a place to participate in at least 1 Olympic tournament 2028 or 2032. Linking public service units, football clubs with facilities with local schools to organize extracurricular football activities, and at the same time implementing a school football development program with the support of the Vietnam Football Federation and other organizations...

In addition, the most important thing is to develop high-performance football and professional football, focusing on the selection and training of football talents. Develop a set of criteria for selecting football talents of each age group; organize selection activities (regional and national levels). The Vietnam Football Federation develops a framework training program for youth teams according to the orientation of the national team's tactical system, style, and playing style, under the supervision of the national football technical director...
