The Ministry of Home Affairs has just reported to the Government Steering Committee on the summary of the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TW on supplementing and perfecting the plan to arrange and streamline the Government apparatus according to the conclusion of the Politburo.

In the report, the Ministry of Home Affairs clearly stated the transfer of functions, tasks, and organizational structure of a number of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will manage the state press.

Specifically, transfer the functions, tasks, and organization of the state management apparatus on press from the Ministry of Information and Communications to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Transfer the functions, tasks, and organization of the state management apparatus on poverty reduction from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Adjust and amend the functions and tasks of the Institute for Economic and Financial Strategy and Policy Research, excluding the functions and tasks of the Central Institute for Economic Management Research (because this Institute is transferred to the Central Policy and Strategy Committee).

According to the plan stated in the report, the name of the Ministry of Science and Technology will be kept after merging the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism retains its name after taking over the state management function of the press from the Ministry of Information and Communications.

On the basis of continuing to arrange and streamline the organizational structure of the above-mentioned ministries and branches, the organizational structure of the 15th Government (term 2021-2026) has 14 ministries and 3 ministerial-level agencies (reducing 5 ministries and ministerial-level agencies), including: Ministry of National Defense; Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Justice; Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Education and Training; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Construction; Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; Government Office; Government Inspectorate; State Bank of Vietnam.

There are 5 Government agencies (3 agencies reduced), including: Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Vietnam Television; Voice of Vietnam; Vietnam News Agency.

The Ministry of Home Affairs requests ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies to complete the Project on restructuring, merging, consolidating, and streamlining the internal apparatus (with a draft decree stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of their ministries and branches), and send it to the Ministry of Home Affairs before January 15, 2025.
