FAM sympathized with Mr. Kim for his previous contributions and did not demand compensation for the 17-month contract. However, just a few days after returning home, Mr. Kim accepted a job at Ulsan Hyundai Club.

" We feel deeply betrayed by the way he (coach Kim Pan-gon - PV) handled the termination of his contract. If he received a better offer, he should have been straightforward with us. Instead, Kim Pan-gon looked for a new position during the vacation, which is why the Korean media quickly reported this story.

We trusted and invited coach Kim Pan-gon after consulting many different opinions. However, FAM was too lenient. I could have asked him to compensate for the remaining part of the contract. However, Kim Pan-gon asked to leave early. It is disappointing that he is always so dishonest, " the New Strait Times quoted FAM president Datuk Hamidin Amin as saying.

Up to this point, FAM has not yet finalized the position of head coach of the Malaysian national team. It is likely that Mr. Pau Marti will still hold the interim role until the end of the AFF Cup 2024.
