Minister Bui Thanh Son received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos

On the afternoon of January 28, on the occasion of attending the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat in Luang Prabang (Laos), Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

At the meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, the two Ministers expressed their joy at the achievements in the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; highly appreciated the reliable and effective cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries in recent times; demonstrated through the exchange of delegations on economic diplomacy, cooperation between the two Diplomatic Academies, etc.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam supports and assists Laos in assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024; and closely coordinates with Laos in promoting the Strategic Plan of the ASEAN Community Vision to 2045.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam supports and assists Laos in assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024.

The Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister affirmed his support for Vietnam to host the ASEAN Future Forum on rapid, sustainable and people-centered development (scheduled for April 2024) and will report to Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to attend at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The two Ministers also agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support at international, regional and sub-regional forums, and together with member countries maintain solidarity and consolidate ASEAN's central role in regional and international issues, including the East Sea issue.
