CNN introduces Vietnam's banh mi as a culinary legacy left over from the French colonial period, which has been adapted by the Vietnamese to local tastes to create one of the most famous street foods in the world. The traditional version includes pork roll, pickled carrots and radishes, cilantro, pate, mayonnaise, and some places add grilled meat, eggs or shredded chicken with lemongrass and chili. The crust is crispy, the inside is soft, and the filling is rich, creating a full taste experience: salty, sour, fatty, and fragrant. Today, banh mi is sold everywhere, from street carts to restaurants.

In addition to banh mi, CNN lists other sandwiches worth trying around the world such as: Bocadillo de jamón Ibérico (Spain); Torta ahogada (Mexico); Tramezzino (Italy); Chivito (Uruguay); Cuban sandwich (Cuba)...
