Gang stole nearly 300 motorbikes and sold them abroad

On the afternoon of June 11, Nghe An Provincial Police announced that the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with relevant units, had just dismantled a multi-provincial and transnational ring of stolen motorbikes, arresting 12 suspects.

Recently, in Nghe An province in particular and the whole country in general, there have been many cases of motorbike theft with very aggressive and daring methods and tricks, causing outrage among the people. Faced with the above situation, the leaders of Nghe An Provincial Police have directed the Criminal Police Department to establish a special project to fight.

Through the investigation, the Criminal Police Department discovered a ring of theft and consumption of stolen motorbikes between provinces and across countries, specializing in transporting stolen goods abroad for sale. This ring was led and operated by the Facebook and Zalo account “Bi Ken”. Through verification, the account “Bi Ken” is Ly Nhat Quy Cuong (born in 1998, residing in Thanh Thoi An commune, Tran De district, Soc Trang province).

In Nghe An, the gang leader is Nguyen Dinh Son (born in 1988, residing in Tan Son commune, Do Luong district). Assisting Son is Le Khac Dung (born in 1988, residing in Minh Son commune, same district).

The investigation team determined that Ly Nhat Quy Cuong's network operated in many provinces and cities, from Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa... to Ho Chi Minh City, Soc Trang, Kien Giang ...

After the investigation period, from May 29 to June 9, the Criminal Police Department (Nghe An Police) presided over and coordinated with professional departments and police of Do Luong, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Nam Dan districts; police of Thanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City; Border Guard Station of Ha Tien border gate (Kien Giang) simultaneously arrested 12 subjects for theft and consumption of stolen property.

The police seized evidence including: 75 motorbikes of various types, 2 trucks, 5 lock-breaking tools, 25 mobile phones, 2 laptops, 3 notebooks and many related evidences.

Initially, the subjects confessed that in addition to the 75 motorbikes currently seized by the police, they had previously stolen more than 200 motorbikes of various types. The stolen motorbikes were smuggled to Cambodia for sale.

The case is currently under investigation.

Nghe An Provincial Police announced that anyone who is a victim of the incident should quickly contact the Criminal Police Department for coordination in resolving the matter.
