On December 18, 1964, the first Provincial Cultural and Artistic Congress was held in Loc Hoa Hamlet, Loc Giang Commune, Duc Hoa District, marking the birth of the Vam Co Literature and Arts Association (the first name of the Long An Province Literature and Arts Association) - a member organization of the Southern Liberation Literature and Arts Association and the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine. At that time, comrade Ha Manh Duc was the Editor-in-Chief. The magazine was a place to convey valuable short stories, literature, poetry, music, and paintings, contributing to encouraging and motivating the spirit of cadres, soldiers, and people.

After the country was unified, the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine was born and published monthly, becoming a "meeting point" for many new and talented writers. The content of the works printed in the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine at that time was imbued with heroic qualities during the period of building the homeland . In early 1978, the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine was upgraded to the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine, published periodically every 3 months, each issue was nearly 100 pages with rich topics on building socialism, new life, new people. After the 3rd Conference on Literary and Artistic Creation in 1979, the creative movement continued to flourish. Each issue of the Vam Co Literature and Arts Magazine was 100-300 pages thick with a circulation of 2,500-3,500 copies and became an indispensable "spiritual food" at that time.

To meet the needs of readers, the magazine not only introduces famous foreign literary works, but also provides information about the history, culture, archaeology of the province, along with many works promoting Long An homeland . Long An Arts introduces new musical compositions

In 1982, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association was established, marking a new milestone, opening up conditions for comprehensive development of the province's literature and arts sector. 1982 was also the year when Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper launched its first issue, replacing Long An Literature and Arts Magazine after nearly 5 years of operation. The newspaper was published monthly with a circulation of 2,000-3,000 copies per issue. At this time, in addition to the local force, Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper also had many collaborators outside the province, providing readers with a lot of interesting, in-depth and extensive information. Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper was considered the main means of serving the Association's tasks to disseminate good works to the masses, serving the Party's innovation and the political tasks of the province.

Recalling the development period of Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper, poet Tran Ngoc Huong shared: “Since the establishment of Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper, many authors and artists have joined in, creating a prosperous period. During this period, besides writers: Dinh Thi Thu Van, Chu Hong Hai, Hoai Van, Hao Vu and many other young people, there were Mac Tuyen and Tran Han Phong”.

Following the mainstream of current events, Long An Literature and Arts in the first quarter of 2025 has the theme "The Country is Full of Joy"

Poet Tran Ngoc Huong is also a familiar writer for the Long An Literature and Arts Newspaper. He mainly writes about the changes in the Dong Thap Muoi region, especially praising the image of people who are willing to give up urban conveniences and volunteer to go to remote areas to build their homeland.

Despite many changes, from magazine to newspaper and now newsletter, Long An Literature and Arts has always played the role of a “fire” nurturing the creative spirit of the province’s artists. For more than half a century, this publication has not only been an art forum but also a place to preserve memories, reflect life and foster local cultural identity in the flow of Vietnamese literature and art.

Overcoming difficulties - continuing to accompany

In 1996, Long An Literature and Arts Magazine was re-published, becoming the mouthpiece of the Association and a forum for artists. However, during this period, due to financial and human resource difficulties, maintaining the regular publication of the magazine was a remarkable effort by the province's artists. Vice President of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association - Nguyen Lanh affirmed: "In the context of limited funding, the magazine is still published to serve the needs of readers inside and outside the province as well as making efforts to convey and introduce literary and artistic works, reflecting the country's innovation in the process of integration and development".

Journalist Nguyen Phan Dau is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Long An Literature and Arts Newsletter.

In recent years, along with the trend of modern journalism, Long An Literature and Arts Magazine had temporarily stopped publishing for a number of reasons. By 2023, Long An Literature and Arts Newsletter was restored, publishing 4 issues per year with improved content and format. Each issue has its own theme, following current events with many articles of diverse genres and specialties. With the policy of increasing the number of pages from 40 to 70 pages per publication, Long An Literature and Arts Newsletter has become a vibrant playground for artists and writers in the province . In particular, this is also a place to nurture young literary and artistic "seeds" for the province.

“In addition to short stories, poems, and memoirs, Long An Literature and Arts News also publishes works of photography, painting, theory, introduces architectural works, introduces portraits of typical artists of the province through the ages, etc. Thanks to that, the number of authors collaborating and having articles published in Long An Literature and Arts is increasing. Among them, there are young authors and students who have won prizes in competitions organized by the Provincial Literature and Arts Association” - Head of the Editorial Board of Long An Literature and Arts News - Nguyen Phan Dau said.

That journey continues, persistently, quietly but profoundly./.
