Bac Giang: Focus on harvesting the spring crop, deploying the summer-autumn crop production

BAC GIANG - The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang province has just sent a document to districts, towns and cities requesting to focus on directing the harvest of spring rice and deploying the production of the 2025 winter-spring crop.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of districts, towns and cities, as of June 17, 2025, the spring rice area has been harvested over 22 thousand hectares (reaching 48.1% of the plan). The area of ​​​​sowing rice seedlings is 478 hectares.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that from now until July 10, there is a possibility of a storm or tropical depression in the East Sea, which may affect the mainland, causing widespread heavy rain. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and lightning may affect agricultural production, especially the spring rice harvest and crop production.

To ensure the progress of the next crop, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct specialized agencies and commune-level People's Committees to urgently harvest the winter-spring rice crop according to the motto "Green house is better than old field" to avoid damage when storms occur.

Propaganda for people to mobilize machinery to till the land immediately after harvest, plow deeply to bury the stubble, retain water in the field, combine the use of organic biodegradable products, lime powder before tilling the land to limit the source of pests and diseases and the risk of poisoning for rice plants after planting. Clean the field, thoroughly collect weeds, crop residues... to limit the source of spreading pests.

Localities coordinate closely with irrigation works exploitation companies to have timely water supply plans for land preparation and planting, dredging canals, clearing water flows; checking irrigation and drainage pumping systems, ensuring water supply for crops and timely drainage when heavy rain occurs.

Arrange seed structure and appropriate planting season, and prepare reserve seeds to promptly replant damaged areas (if any).

For the early winter crop production area, the Department of Agriculture recommends that farmers proactively sow short-term rice varieties and valuable crops such as peanuts, corn, melons, and various vegetables.
