Hiep Hoa: Landslides continue to appear on the left dike of Cau, urgent evacuation of some households

BAC GIANG - On June 30, officials of Hiep Hoa Dike Management Department and Son Thinh Commune People's Committee continued to discover widespread landslides in the area from K8+100 to K8+250, threatening the lives and property of some households in the area.

Accordingly, at Mr. Ngo Van Truong's house, a landslide spread 5m wide, penetrating into the brick yard and garage about 2.5m. Several other landslides in the area from K8+250 to K8+500 are continuing to be monitored by the authorities.

The landslide area continued to spread to some households in Bao Tan village.

According to comrade Ngo Van Su, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Thinh commune, in recent days, the flood on Cau river has receded rapidly, combined with continuous rain in the area, posing a greater risk of landslides and slides in riverside areas with weak geological foundations.

Recognizing that the above landslide area is quite dangerous, threatening people's lives and property, Son Thinh commune has announced, propagated, and mobilized 6 households living near the landslide area to move their property and people to another temporary place.

The landslide site ate deep into the brick yard of the people of Bao Tan village, Son Thinh commune.

On the same day, the commune mobilized 30 militiamen and 3 trucks to help transport assets for the people. By this evening (June 30), 4 households, namely Mr. Ngo Van Truong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh and Mr. Tran Van Tam, had moved to the old Dai Thanh Commune People's Committee headquarters to temporarily stay. The remaining households are continuing to receive propaganda and mobilization from local authorities.

Currently, local authorities have marked landmarks, kept a logbook and put up warning signs in the landslide area.

According to the forecast of the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from the evening of June 30 to July 3, the water level on rivers in the province is likely to have a flood with an amplitude of 2 m - 6 m. The flood peak on Thuong River, Luc Nam River, Cau River is likely to be at alert level 1 to alert level 2, with the potential risk of causing landslides. Therefore, local authorities and people should raise their vigilance and be on guard against dangerous incidents. Particularly, Son Thinh Commune (from July 1, Son Thinh Commune will arrange with some other neighboring communes called Hop Thinh Commune) to send shock troops to coordinate with local police forces to propagate to households along the Cau River dike to regularly monitor weather forecasts, water levels on the river and landslide developments. Quickly inform local authorities to receive support in moving people and property to a safe location.

It is known that, as soon as receiving the information, tonight, representatives of the provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue went to the locality to directly inspect and direct the response work.
