Urgent overnight work to fix landslide on National Highway 16 after storm No. 5

The impact of storm No. 5 caused many landslides on National Highway 16, causing local traffic jams. Faced with this situation, the Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board (Nghe An Department of Construction) directed traffic management units to mobilize machinery and human resources to urgently level the road to ensure traffic safety.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Truong - Director of Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board said that the impact of the recent storm No. 5 caused National Highway 16 to be re-eroded at 13 points. Immediately after the storm dissipated, the unit directed the traffic management force to urgently fix the problem. As of August 26, 11 points have been handled, currently 2 landslide points at Km248-Km406 are being urgently constructed. It is expected that by the end of August 27, the entire route will be open to traffic in one lane. Mr. Truong also emphasized that due to the characteristics of mountainous areas with frequent heavy rains, the risk of landslides recurring is high, so the management units must arrange machinery on standby to promptly handle any incidents that occur.
